     Ruth E. Rader was buried at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW. 102nd Ave., Bushnell, Sumter Co., Florida.2,1 She Ruth E. Rader Whitehill of Summerfield, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Hospice House, The Villages, Florida. She was born in Strattanville, Pennsylvania and preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert G. Whitehill, and sister Shirley C. Holler. With her husband, Bob, she spent many happy years and made life long friends from Clarion and West Chester, Pennsylvania., St. Albans, West Virginia., Freehold, New Jersey, Slidell, Louisiana and finally Spruce Creek South in Summerfield, Florida. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia State College in 1965 and taught 5th and 6th grades in St. Albans, West Virginia, Freehold, New Jersey, West Chester, Pennsylvania and Slidell, Louisiana. Ruth coached Junior Golf at Clearwood Junior High School in Slidell, Louisiana while teaching there. She always enjoyed socializing with friends, playing golf and bridge as well as reading. She was well known for her keen sense of humor, curiosity and her love of life. She will be greatly missed by her many lifelong friends and her loving family. Surviving children are Vicky Whitehill and Cheryl Hershberger (Gene), of Summerfield, Fl., and grandchildren, Brandon Cavender of St. Albans, West Virginia, Alicia Cavender of Chesapeake, Virginia, Greg Hershberger of Summerfield, Florida, as well as 5 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with her late husband, Robert at a later date.1 Her married name was Whitehill.1 She married Robert Garvin Whitehill, son of Richard Gordon Whitehill and Florence Rebecca Snyder.1 Ruth E. Rader was born on October 21, 1927 at Strattanville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,3 She died on October 8, 2020 at The Villages, Sumter Co., Florida, at age 92.1

     Walter Wrenn Goe was born on September 22, 1912 at Weiner, Poinsett Co., Arkansas.4 He married Jean Isabelle Gallant, daughter of Charles Howard Gallant and Georgina Young, on October 8, 1936 at Seattle, King Co., Washington.2 Walter Wrenn Goe died on April 23, 1945 at age 32; Walter was declared "Missing In Action" when the Eagle was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-Boat U-853 off the coast of Portland, Maine during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Only 13 of the 67 crew members of the Eagle survived. The loss was classified as a boiler explosion until 2001 when historical evidence convinced the US Navy to reclassify the sinking as a combat loss due to enemy action.3
