     Harry Reed Greer was buried at Knox Union Cemetery, Knox Township, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.⁵ His Social Security Number was 168-09-1890.⁶ He was born on January 18, 1904 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania.^6,3,5 He married Beulah M. Olson on August 3, 1925 at Jamestown, Chautauqua Co., New York.^5,4 Harry Reed Greer died on October 28, 1970 at Oil City, Venango Co., Pennsylvania, at age 66.^6,5 He Knox - Harry R. Greer, 66, of Knox RD 2, prominent in the activities of Boy Scouting and recipient of the highest award in scouting work, died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday in Oil City Hospital following a years' illness. A retired employee of Pennsylvania Electric Company, he was employed by the utility firm from 1927 to January 31, 1968, when he retired after 41 years of service. He was active in Little League, which he helped to organize in his community, and also in church work. He served as Troop 54 Scoutmaster for several years, later as troop committeeman for one year and then returned to scoutmaster. In 1944, he organized the older boys of Troop 54 into a Sea Scout Ship and became its skipper. He became assistant scoutmaster of his old troop and remained in that position until 1949. He again became a troop committeeman and served until 1952. At that time, he was elected chairman of the Explorer Post Committee. Mr. Greer was presented the scouts' highest award - the Silver Beaver Award - on November 1, 1955. He also was presented the Scoutmaster's Key. In recognition of 32 years of service to scouting, he was presented an Honor Parchment in August 1970. He continued as a merit badge counselor in his home until late spring of this year. Mr. Greer was an honorary life member of Troop 54 Committee. He served his community as a first aid instructor. He helped organize Little League baseball in his community and served as leader for a number of years. Mr. Greer was both chairman and a worker in the Community Red Cross Campaign. He was an ardent sportsman and a staunch supporter of the Beaver Township Bucktails. He was honored by Beaver Township Bucktails at a 21st Anniversary Dinner in March 1970. He was the first president of that sportsman club. In another achievement in the field of youth service, he spearheaded the successful efforts to secure schoolbuses for the children of his community. A member of the United Church of Christ of Knox RD, he served as a deacon of the church. Mr. Greer was born January 18, 1904, in Pittsburgh, a son of William and Mattie Reed Greer. When a child of six months, his parents moved to Venus. Since 1922, however, he made his home in the Knox area. On August 3, 1925, he was united in marriage with Beulah M. Olson in Jamestown, New York. In 1923, he graduated from Edenburg High School in Knox, and two years later graduated from Knox Business School. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. Richard (Clara Louise) Smathers, of Venus, Mrs. Cuvier (Martha) Mong, of Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. Melvin (Barbara) Hall, of Shippenville RD, John (Bud) Greer, of Oil City, Harry Greer, Jr., of Weedsport, New York and Robert Greer, North Pine Grove. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; an aunt, Mrs. Carolyn Schutt, of Detroit, Michigan; and a number of cousins. Removal was made to Roy P. Stuart Funeral Home, Knox, where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Eli Fabian, pastor of United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Knox Union Cemetery. on October 29, 1970.⁵

     Beulah M. Olson was buried at Knox Union Cemetery, Knox Township, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She was born on May 17, 1907 at Knox Township, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.¹ As of August 3, 1925,her married name was Greer.³ She married Harry Reed Greer, son of William Fredrick Greer and Mary Mattie Reed, on August 3, 1925 at Jamestown, Chautauqua Co., New York.^2,1 Beulah M. Olson died on December 31, 2001 at Sligo, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 94.¹ She Beulah M. Greer, 94, formerly of Knox RD 2, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo. Born May 17, 1907, in Knox, she was a daughter of Oley E. and Emma C. Switzer Olson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her earlier years, Mrs. Greer had worked as a clerk at Kooman's Department Store in Knox and also was a custodian for the Pennsylvania Electric Co. She was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Knox RD 2, and also belonged to the Builders Class and the Christian Woman's Fellowship of the church. Mrs. Greer also was a member of the Wentlings Corners Community Club. In her earlier years, she was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was a volunteer leader for the Girl Scouts of America. She also was a 4-H leader. She also was a member and past president of the Keystone Music Association. Mrs. Greer was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, knitting, poetry and her apple orchard. She was married Aug. 3, 1925, to Harry R. Greer, who died Oct. 28, 1970. Surviving are three daughters, Clara Louise Smathers of Venus, Martha E. Mong and her husband, Cuvier, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Barbara G. Hall of Knox; three sons, John E. Greer and his wife, Marilyn, of Seneca, Harry R. Greer Jr. and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Weedsport, N.Y., and Robert G. Greer and his wife, Linda, of Knox; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Ditzman and Vera Johnston; and two sons-in-law, Richard D. Smathers and Melvin C. Hall. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Faulds, pastor of St. Paul United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in the Knox Union Cemetery. on January 2, 2002.¹

     Clara Louise Greer was buried at Venus Cemetery, Fryburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.^7,3 She Clara L. Smathers, 89, of Venus passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at Golden Living in Oil City. Born on September 23, 1925 in , Salem PA she was the daughter of Harry R. and Beulah M. Olsen Greer. She graduated from White Memorial School in Knox and Oil City Hospital School of Nursing. While she was a senior nursing student Clara worked at the Lake Bonneville Indian Reservation in Washington state during WW II. She provided nursing coverage to allow the Resident RN to join the war effort. On October 21, 1947 at St. Paul Reform Church in Wentling Corners, Clara was married to Richard D. Smathers who preceded her in death on April 6, 2000. Clara was a member of the United Evangelical Church of Venus She was a registered nurse at Oil City Hospital and she finished her nursing career with the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County. Clara enjoyed reading, bible study and spending time with her family. Clara is survived by a daughter Marsha Stewart and her husband William of Eighty Four, PA, a son Richard Smathers and his wife Desiree of Venus, and grandchildren: Trey Stewart and his wife Lynda of Eighty Four, PA and their children Liam, and Savanah; Neil Stewart and wife Lynette of Washington, PA, and their daughter Lila; Evan Stewart and wife Jade of Finleyville, PA, and daughter Savanah; and SSGT Kellen Smathers and wife Amanda of Havelock, NC, and daughter Teyla, and triplet sons Kanan, Orin, and Quinton. She is also survived by siblings William E. Greer and wife Marilyn of Oil City; Martha Mong of Mansfield, OH; Harry R. Greer Jr. and wife Ruth Ann of Weedsport, NY; and Robert Greer and wife Linda of Knox. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Barbara Hall. "Hoop" Mong, 78, of Mansfield, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a three-year illness. Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Warren, Pa., he was the son of Cecil D. and Vera I. Mong. Upon graduating from Mansfield Senior High School in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the hospital ship, USS Benevolence during World War II. He retired from MONG the Mans field Fire Department after 25 years of service. Hoop's fondest memories were of the summers spent on his uncle Cuvier Kline's farm near Knox, Pa., and deer hunting with his family. He is survived by his wife, Martha Greer Mong; three sons, Jack (P.J.) Mong of Louisville, Ky., Terry (Kathie) Mong of Lexington and Jeff (Dana) Mong of Charleston, S.C; 16 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daryl Keith Mong. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, officiated by his son, Jack Mong.      Barbara Grace Greer was buried at Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.⁶ She Barbara Grace Hall, 70, of Clarion, formerly of Shippenville and Knox, died Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2010, at the UMPC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh from complications resulting from a serious fall. Born September 12, 1939, in Wentlings Corners, she was the daughter of Harry and Beulah Olson Greer. She was married on June 23, 1962 to Melvin (Tex) C. Hall, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hall was a homemaker. In her early years, she was a secretary for Quaker State in Emlenton and Knox Glass. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hall was previously an active member at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Knox. She loved the Lord and found comfort in reading his Word. Her greatest joy came when spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she was proud to be in attendance at many of their activities. She loved music, and especially enjoyed singing and playing her clarinet. She also enjoyed social functions at the Golding Living Center in Clarion, especially playing Wii Bowling. She had a great memory and enjoyed telling stories of her school days which included being on the 1st girl's basketball team at Keystone High School. She enjoyed coin collecting and knitting. She is survived by her son, Christopher C. Hall and his wife, Christina, of Knox; her daughter, Sheila H. Hockman and her husband, Tim, of Clarion; and her son, Todd D. Sell and his wife, Steffanie, of Cranberry. She was the proud Grandmother of Allyssa and Jonathan Hall, Phaedra and Phylicia Hockman, and Logan, Aidan, and Abbigail Sell. She was looking forward to the arrival of a new grandbaby in November. Also surviving are three brothers, Harry Greer and his wife, Ruthann, of Weedsport, NY; John (Bud) Greer and his wife, Marilyn, of Seneca; and Bob Greer and his wife, Linda, of Knox; and two sisters, Clara Louise (CL) Smathers of Venus; and Martha (Mart) Mong of Mansfield, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twin infant grandsons, Ethan and Evan Sell; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Smathers and Cuvier (Hoop) Mong.³ Her married name was Hall.¹ Her married name was Sell.³ She married Melvin Clair Hall.^1,2 Barbara Grace Greer married Unknown Sell.³ Barbara Grace Greer was born on September 12, 1939 at Wentlings Corners, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.³ She died on June 16, 2010 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, at age 70.³

     John Edward "Bud" Greer John Edward “Bud” Greer, 91, of Seneca, PA, passed away peacefully at Sugar Creek Station on Sunday, September 8, 2019. He was born in Knox, PA, the eldest son of the late Harry and Beulah Greer of Wentlings Corners. He enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II, at the age of 17. Although he never saw combat, he traveled to Japan to help with cleanup efforts after the war. He returned to Knox in 1948 and was married to Marilyn (McElhattan) Greer. The couple was married for 71 years. He joined Penelec as a groundman and was named apprentice lineman in 1949, and a journeyman lineman in 1951. He became a serviceman on a trouble truck in the Tylersburg sub-district of the Knox district in 1952, a chief lineman in 1953 and was designated a “hot stick” in 1959. In 1961, he was named division safety inspector in Oil City and moved to Rouseville. He requested to return to the line department and was promoted to acting line foreman in the Eldred sub-district of the Bradford district in 1963 and to line foreman in 1964. He returned to Oil City to become superintendent of lines in 1967, district supervisor-line in 1969, and supervisor-line in 1974. He became manager of the Warren District in 1975 and division manager in Oil City in 1980. During all of his location changes, he was an active leader in the Boy Scouts; and there were many young men in Eldred, PA who will never forget his leadership and inspiration as an Explorer post leader. They share memories that will last a lifetime. While in the Leeper area, in addition to his work as a scout leader, he helped establish the community’s first ever volunteer fire department, raising money for a truck, and physically helping to build the fire house. He took courses at the University of Michigan, Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh. Being very civic-minded, he was on the board of directors of the Warren General Hospital and a member of the Warren-Forest Economic Opportunity Council, the Warren Library, the Friends of the Library Theater, Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Warren-Forest Mental Health Services and the Kinzua Dam Vacation Bureau. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Claire Louise Smathers and her husband Richard, from Venus, PA; his sister, Barbara Hall and her husband Melvin “Tex” from Shippenville, PA; his brother in law, Cuvier “Hoop” Mong, from Mansfield, OH; and his son, John Duane Greer, from Northeast, PA. He is survived by wife: Marilyn M. Greer; three children: Michael Greer and his wife Bonnie, from Los Angeles, CA; Dennis Greer and his wife Anita, from Erie, PA; and Julie Lindemuth and her husband Clayton, from St. Charles, MO; three grandsons: Steve Greer; Nathan Greer and his wife Megan; John Greer and his wife Kortney; one grandaughter: Stacy Lee and her husband, Michael; four great-grandsons: Ben Greer, Shain Tinney, Colt Greer, Nash Greer; five great-granddaughters: Shonnie Mercader and her husband, Fernando, Michaela Lee, Mckenzie Lee, Mira Greer and Imogen Greer; and two great-great-granddaughters: Maya Mercader and Olive Mercader and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers, Bob Greer and his wife Linda, from Knox, PA, and Harry Greer Jr. and his wife Ruth Ann from Weedsport, NY; and one sister, Martha Mong from Mansfield, OH. As he requested, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
