Hughes, 80, Bedford, died at 12:27 p.m. Saturday at Bedford Medical Center. For about 45 years, Hughes had been office manager for Empire Life Insurance Co. and Commonwealth Insurance Co. in the Bedford, Paoli and Bloomington areas. He was a member of Southland Church of Christ, Bedford Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Bedford Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, and a veteran of World War II. Born Sept. 24, 1908, in Monon, he was the son of Burt and Ella Mae (Stiles) Hughes. Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Quackenbush), whom he married May 8, 1948; a son, Max Hughes of Vincennes; a sister, Viola Klinger of Lafayette; six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. A daughter and two brothers are deceased. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Day and Carter Mortuary in Bedford, with entombment in Cresthaven Mausoleum in Bedford. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Gillem Post No. 33 of the American Legion. on October 31, 1988.³

"Dixie" Davis, 64, 1709 McDowell Road, died Saturday moming at his home. A retired district sales manager for Century Laboratories, he was former owner of Dixie TV Mart and a justice of the peace. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and Harmony Society, and was a past president of the Vincennes Optimist Club. A graduate of the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet School, he was a captain in World War II. He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Vincennes, the son of Richard H. and Ellen M. (Clifton) Davis. Surviving are his mother of Vincennes; a daughter, Teresa LaFromboise of San Carlos, Calif; two sons, Dierk of Terre Haute and Doug of Cincinnati; four sisters, Connie Gognat, Naomi Zwolinski, Anita Wolfe and Sondra Sievers, all of Vincennes; two brothers, Lyle Davis of Martinsville and Ron Davis of Vincennes; and, four grandchildren. His wife, Bettie M. (Hughes) Davis, is deceased. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James Blessinger. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. on December 10, 1989.⁴ He died on December 11, 1989 at Vincennes, Knox Co., Indiana, at age 64.^2,1,3

     Daniel Cecil McNeal was buried at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 South Cheney-Spokane Road, Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington.^5,2 He was born on November 1, 1935 at Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana.^5,2 He married Gail Sharon Zehm on August 20, 1955 at Spokane Co., Washington.¹ Daniel Cecil McNeal died on January 3, 2012 at Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington, at age 76.^5,2,3 He McNEAL, Daniel C., (Age 76) - Went to be with the Lord Jesus on January 3, 2012. Dan was born in Anderson, Indiana on November 1, 1935. He moved to Spokane in 1953. Dan worked as an installer for Western Electric (currently Century Link) for 26 years, before retiring. He stayed active as a golf enthusiast and enjoyed youth sports. After a paralyzing accident in 1981, Dan remained busy developing his Chattaroy property. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Gail; son, Daniel; daughters, Johanna Gallegos and Carla Dorscher; seven grandchildren; two great-grand- children; numerous nieces and nephews. Daniel was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Donations may be made in Dan's name to the or to the The Spinal Cord Society. A "Celebration of Life" will begin at 10:00AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the funeral home followed by interment at Spokane Memorial Gardens. on January 6, 2012.⁵
