Survivors include five sons, Rudolph Salkill, Wichita, Kan., Loren Salkill, North Carolina, Robert Salkill, Weir, Kan., Willard Salkill, Arkansas, and Carroll Salkill, Aurora; a daughter, Beverly Yount, Mount Vemon; a brother, Floyd Andrus, Crane; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Dean Cox officiating. Burial will be in Crane Community Cemetery. on April 5, 1991.1

Loren Ephream Salkill Loren E. Salkill, 90, of Fremont went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, October 13, 2018 at home with his family surrounding him. A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. Entombment will follow the service. Born in Crane, Missouri, he grew up on the farm and taking trains to California to work in the fields during harvest times with his four brothers, Rudolph, Robert, Willard and Carroll Salkill and his one sister, Beverley Yount. He was drafted into the Army in 1950 and served as a Corporal in the Korean War out of Camp Crowder, MO. After the war, he became a plant maintenance supervisor for Owens-Illinois who he worked for in Illinois, Pennsylvania and eventually North Carolina where he retired in 1984. He was married to the love of his life, Eleanor Salkill for 60 years. They raised three wonderful children and loved to travel together. Mr. Loren, as he was known to many, was a true gentlemen and family man. He was one of the kindest and caring souls to have ever walk this earth. You could always count on a sweet smile to welcome you and a genuine conversation to follow. He fought a tough battle with Parkinson's until his very last breath and was determined to keep going despite the disease. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amanda Andrus; his father, Emmett Salkill; his wife, Eleanor Salkill and his brother, Rudolph Salkill. He is survived by his three children, Anita Grimes & husband, David of Fremont, Alicia Salkill of Fremont and Randy Salkill & wife, Tammi of Fremont; six grandchildren, Brandon Grimes & wife, Amber of Fremont, Brooks Grimes of Fremont, Zach Harmon & partner, Alex of Fremont, Ashton Grimes & wife, Stephanie of Pikeville, Kyle Harmon & wife, Lauren of Four Oaks and Lisa Tyner & husband, Craig of Goldsboro; as well as his ten great-grandchildren, Ashley Peters & husband, Matt, Taylor Adams & fiancé, Aaron, Gabe Grimes, Garrett Grimes, Jayden Grimes, Payton Grimes, Blakely Grimes, Katie Gray, Cayden Grimes and Abigail Grimes all whom were his entire world, he loved with all of his heart and knew would continue on his wonderful legacy.3 He was buried at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Highway 70 West, Goldsboro, Wayne Co., North Carolina.3,4 He was born on August 23, 1928 at Barry Co., Missouri.2,4 He married Eleanor Ray Singleton circa 1954 at Batavia, Kane Co., Illinois.8 Loren Ephream Salkill died on October 13, 2018 at Fremont, Wayne Co., North Carolina, at age 90.3,4
