He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Schoonover; mother, Emma Padgett Richardson; stepfather, Vivian Richardson; four brothers—Richard B. Schoonover, Ronald L. Schoonover, Joseph R. Schoonover, and his twin brother, Raymond E. Schoonover—and his beloved children: twin sons John William and Joseph Thomas, as well as Robert Earl Jr. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Schoonover Taylor; and daughters, Kelly Evans (husband Michael), Ana Lee (husband Jamie), and Ivy Colazo (husband Jose). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren. Robert was especially close to his nephews Richard Joseph Schoonover (wife Grace), and their children Richard and Gabriel Schoonover, all of whom brought him great joy. Robert was known for his love of walking and could often be seen making his way through town, always with a friendly word for anyone he met. Many remembered him as someone they once gave a ride to—proof of how far and often he walked. Raised with his family atop Jeters Chapel Mountain, Robert never forgot his roots and remained connected to his community throughout his life. He made many dear friends while living at Powder Horn Apartments, and he will be fondly remembered for his daily walks and warm spirit.      Guy Orville Olson Guy Orville Olson, 95 of Northwood, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Northwood United Methodist Church, 1000 1st Ave. North in Northwood, with Pastor Shirley Hoffman Will officiating and Pastor Dennis Hudson concelebrating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood, with military honors provided by Our Buddies V.F.W. Post 6779. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 1st Ave. S. in Northwood. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Guy was born February 4, 1921, the son of Clarence C. and Florence (Lent) Olson in Cromwell, IA. He had four sisters and six brothers. A graduate of Diagonal Public School, class of 1938, Guy enlisted in the Air Force in 1942, serving in England with the 8th Air Force until 1945. He was united in marriage to Eva Lois Reed in 1942 and to this union four children were born; Susanne, Ronald, Janet and Jill. In 1952, Guy graduated from the University of Missouri and shortly after he and his family moved to Northwood. After being employed by Allied Mills in Mason City for three years as a chemist, he began Guy Olson Construction in 1955 and built many homes in the area and developed subdivisions in Northwood. In 1967 Guy became a real estate broker, owning Worth Realty for 33 years until his retirement at age 80 in the year 2000. During that time he was also involved with the city government as a councilman and later serving as mayor of Northwood. His first term was served in the early 1970’s and second in the early 1990’s. Guy was a member of Northwood United Methodist Church for over 60 years and served on various committees. Guy is survived by three daughters, Susanne Olson-White of Los Angeles, CA, Janet Olson of Ankeny, and Jill (Frank) Hilton of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Dana (Ray) White, Tyler (Abby) Neuschwanger, Olivia Barnes and Evan Hilton; a great-grandson, Archer Neuschwanger; a brother, Ivan (Elaine) Olson; and a special friend, Norma Fulton of Clear Lake and her daughter, Beth, of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ron; four sisters, Opal, Vivian, Rosalie and Lola; five brothers, Wendall, Leo, Gene, Dale and Dwayne; and a son-in-law, Jim White. Guy was a workaholic and greatly regrets the weekends he worked instead of spending time with his family and relaxing.      Alvin F. Ambler Alvin F. “Bud” Ambler, 91 of Huntington passed away at 11:47 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at The Heritage of Huntington. Bud was a 1942 graduate of Huntington High School. He attended Huntington College and finished his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering at Tri-State University. He was a U.S. Air Force WII veteran; he was a B-24 bomber pilot from 1942 – 1946 and was in the Air Force reserves from 1946 until his retirement in 1969 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was awarded 4 bronze battle stars. He belonged to the Reserve Officers Association. Bud had worked at ITT Electron Optics Lab in Fort Wayne for 36 years where he worked on projects for NASA, some of which are now on Mars, the moon and in deep space. He was a member of the St. Peter’s First Community Church and he enjoyed woodworking. Bud was born on July 9, 1924 in Huntington, the son of Alvin C. and Isabell (Merriman) Ambler. He was united in marriage to Ardith E. Reed on May 26, 1944. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1990. He later married Evelyn L. Nichols in May of 1992; she preceded him in death on April 9, 2009. Survivors include a son: James (Ann) Ambler of Huntington; a daughter: Judith Paris of Carmel; a daughter-in-law: Barbara Ambler of Virginia Beach, VA; two stepdaughters: Julie (Karl) Owen of North Royalton, OH; JoAnn (John) Snobarger of Bakersfield, CA; 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Fredrick Ambler. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
