Thomas of Jamestown and Ralph L. Thomas of Awendaw; three daughters, Betty T. Owens of Charleston and Brenda T. Hutchinson and Donna T. Marcinak, both of McClellanville; two sisters, Eva Nichols and Mary Likens, both of Roanoke, Va; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2005, at McClellanville Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ricky West and Pastor Sherry Sykes. Burial will follow in McClellanville Baptist Church Memorial Gardens. on February 4, 2006.4

Otis worked for Indian River Gas Company, was Owner/Agent for Ryder Truck Lines, and is now retired from Civil Service with PAFB. He was Area Coordinator for the Melbourne Boy Scout troop in the 1960's, was Exaulted Ruler for the Elks Club, President of the Melbourne Exchange Club, a member of the Melbourne Masonic Lodge, and chairman of the Advisory Board for the Harbor City Rainbow Assembly. Both Otis and Marjo have been very active in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was an honorable man who always put his church and family first. He will be missed by many, but his strength, caring and loving support will be everlasting to those whose lives he touched. on January 6, 2011.2

He also leaves behind two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eugene is also survived by his sister, Iris Mitchell, of Roanoke, Va; and his brother, Otis Willis, of Melbourne, Fla. Born on April 5, 1928, in Roanoke, Va., Eugene lived in his birthplace for most of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He married Mabel in 1951 and worked at the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 38 years. During his retirement, he traveled extensively in the United States visiting 49 of the 50 states. The daily Roanoke Times crossword and his workshop received his free time at home. On Wednesdays and Sundays, Eugene was found at Vinton Baptist Church where he exemplified the servant character of a life time deacon. He held up his family in love and was held in their love in the end. His strength and character inspired friend and relative alike to attain a higher standard for him or herself. Maintaining his easy-going way and humility, Eugene walked through life as a good man. He did not condescend and found good in everyone. People mattered most to him and he felt much gratitude when they cared for him. The Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, December 24, 2010, at Vinton Baptist Church. Eugene will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. on December 23, 2010.4
