Born May 5, 1928, in Beckley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Carna C. and Irene D. Reno Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker and a member of the Calloway Heights Missionary Baptist Church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Bennett; a grandson, Greg Dangerfield; and a sister, Irene “Marty” McDaniel. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband eight days shy of being married 63 years, Carl E. Bennett of Beckley; four daughters: Kathryn Bailey of Beckley, Dawnie Denny and husband Roscoe of Crab Orchard, Peggy Bennett Campbell of Beckley, and Brenda Metrick and husband Mike of White Oak; and one brother, Wade Curtis of Beckley. She also leaves behind her precious eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Bill Parker and Rev. Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call on the family two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.      Wade L. "Buck" Curtis Wade L. “Buck” Curtis was called home on July 31, 2014, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 17, 1937, in Mabscott, WV, he was the son of the late Carna and Irene Reno Curtis. Buck graduated from Woodrow Wilson in 1956, and had worked at Eccles Mine, Southern Industrial Marketers machine shop, Hylton and Perry Machine Shop, and owned Betty’s Ceramics shop with his wife until retirement. “Buck” was blessed in life and death with friends and family. He loved life every day and especially cherished his last days with family and friends who were visiting and caring for him. When asked how he was, he would always answer “Wonderful.” He had bad days but he was always truly blessed with the love of family and friends. I’m sure that today he is more wonderful than he ever could have imagined. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Joseph and Dixie O’Dell, his sisters Marty McDaniel and Ginny Bennett, his son-in-law Bob Mandeville, brothers-in-law Ben O’Dell, Mork O’Dell, Gene O’Dell and sister-in-law Nada O’Dell. He is survived by wife Betty O’Dell Curtis and their daughters Shari Mandeville, Trish Bryant (Harry), and Carol Curtis. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Matt Warden (Erin, children Lexi and “Pops’ Little Buddy,” Kase), Chris Warden (Laura), Travis Mandeville (Brittany, daughter Makenna), Brandon Peelish, Sara Mandeville, Dave Bryant (Kim, children Carlie and Dylan), PeeWee Mandeville (Patty), Shelia Mandeville (wife of Trigger, deceased). He is also survived by very special nephews and nieces Bruce and Bob McDaniel, Sandy Shrewsbury, Kate Bailey, a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and many nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate his life will be at Buck’s home church, Calloway Heights Baptist Church on Rural Acres Drive in Beckley, and officiated by Pastor Bill Parker. Visitation will be August 4, 2014, at 12 noon with services beginning at 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Pallbearers will be Don Riffe, Matt Warden, Chris Warden, Brandon Peelish, Travis Mandeville, Austin McDaniel, BJ McDole, and PeeWee Mandeville. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Crews and Jerry Shaffer.2 He was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2 He married Betty O’Dell.2 Wade L.      Carl Estic Bennett Carl Estic Bennett, age 96, of the Sprague Community, Beckley, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, 27 Sep 2017 at the Beckley VA Medical Center. Born on 29 Dec 1920 at Abraham, he was the son of the David Bennett and Effie M. Smith Bennett. Mr. Bennett was retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education, where he served as a school bus driver. He was also a former bus driver for Quesenberry Bus Lines in Beckley. Mr. Bennett was a WWII US Army Veteran, and was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church. In his early years, he was the owner of Bennett Brother's Grocery in Beckley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bennett; by children, Jackie Bennett, Kathryn Bailey, Dawnie Denny, and Brenda Metrick; by brothers John, Edward, Omer, Oral, Earl, Noah, Kyle, and Orda Bennett; by sisters, Dexter Plumley, Sona Pack, Ruth Pack and Stella Plumley, and by grandson, Peggy's son, Greg Dangerfield. Mr. Bennett was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was affectionately known as "Mousey" to close family members and friends. Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, a special daughter-in-law, ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survive. Bennett, 59, of Piney View passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bennett was born on October 10, 1949, in Beckley. He was a son of Carl and Virginia Curtis Bennett of Beckley. He was a retired electrician with the IBEW Local 466, where he dedicated 38 years of service. He had a love for farming and also enjoined deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Vernon Marion, mother-in-law, Maxine Giadella Marion, and a nephew Greg Dangerfield. Those left to cherish his wonderful memory, other than his parents, are his loving wife of 38 years, Sarah Bennett at home; sons, Terry Bennett and wife Melissa of Piney View, and Daniel Bennett of Shady Spring; sisters and their husbands, Catherine Bailey of Beckley, Dawnie and Roscoe Denny of Crab Orchard, Penny Campbell of Beckley, and Brenda and Mike Metrick of White Oak; brothers-in-law David Marion and wife of North Carolina, and Randy Marion and wife of Georgia; grandchildren, Taylor Bennet and Emily Bennett, both of Piney View, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration for Jackie will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Rose & Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Bill Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for visitation.      Kathryn Imogene Bennett Kathryn “Kate” Bailey, age 67 of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Charleston Area Medical Center General Division. Born on August 8, 1947 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Carl Bennett of Sprague and the late Virginia Curtis Bennett. Kate worked at the Army Recruiting Station and the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the Calloway Heights Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1965 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and had attended Beckley College. Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Bennett and sisters Dawny Denny and Brenda Metrick. She is survived by two sons, Keith Bailey of Beckley and Sean Bailey and his wife Pam of Salem, W.Va., a grandson, Eli Bailey, granddaughters, Brystol, Linzy and Alexis of Salem, W.Va., a sister, Peggy Campbell, a sister-in-law, Sarah Bennett and a dear cousin and friend Sandy Shrewsbury. Funeral services will be conducted at the Calloway Heights Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, June 8, 2015, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bill Parker and Pastor Bill Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.      Dawnie Bennett Dawnie Carol Denny, age 62 of Crab Orchard, West Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley with her loving family by her side. Born on August 24, 1948 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Carl Bennett of Beckley, and the late Virginia Curtis Bennett. Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Bennett and a step son, Bert Denny. Dawnie’s life was devoted to providing for her family and friends. She had worked at the VA Hospital and the Raleigh General Hospital in a clerical position until she retired. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was always filled with love and kindness; her door and heart was always open. She loved to cook and can the garden that her family raised, and always ensured that everyone had eaten a good meal. She was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memory, include her husband of 34 years, Roscoe Denny; a son Samuel Denny and his wife Liza of Grandview; a daughter Rebecca Denny-Myers and her husband Jonathan of Beckley; 3 step-sons, Roscoe Sturgill and his wife Lucy of Sophia; Matthew Denny and his wife Jinny of Maple Fork, William Denny and his wife Melissa of Beckley. Sisters, Kathryn Bailey and Peggy Campbell both of Beckley, Brenda Metrick and her husband Mike of White Oak, West Virginia. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends also survive. Recently Dawnie was blessed with a granddaughter, Allison Carol Myers that held a special place in her heart, and brought her great joy in the last months of her life as she battled lung cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday April 22, 2011 at 2 PM with Pastor Jeff Canterbury and Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, West Virginia. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time on Friday. She was a member of the Jones Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, and enjoyed cooking, being with her grandchildren, and going to the beach. Brenda was preceded in death by sister Dawnie Denny and a brother, Jackie Bennett. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband Mike Metrick; two children, Cody Metrick of White Oak, and Shanna Pack and her husband Jeff of Cool Ridge. Two sisters, Katherine Bailey of Beckley, and Peggy Campbell of Daniels; four grandchildren, Sean Plumley, Kadance Miller, Madison Pack, and Briella Pack. She also leaves behind her special pets, Shady, Sampson, and Buddy. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Skee Barley officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Pallbearers will be J.C. Rhodes, Rex Metrick, Chris Metrick, Jeff Pack, Mike Metrick, and Cody Metrick. on June 20, 2014.3

     Frederick Sean Bailey was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2 He Frederick Sean Bailey, age 43, of Beckley, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from complications of pneumonia. Born on March 9, 1975 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Winifred Blaine Bailey (1945-Deceased) and Kathryn "Katy" Bennett-Bailey (1947-2015). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Carl Estic Bennett (1920-2017) and Virginia Caroline Curtis-Bennett (1928-2009); and paternal grandparents, Timothy Bailey (1911-Deceased) and Bessie Mae Hutchison-Bailey (1912-Deceased). Sean was a certified electrician for Harrison Rural Electrification Association for 15 years, and most recently for Pritchard Signal and Light. He had served in the US Army Reserves and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1993. Sean enjoyed hunting, his coon dogs and fishing. Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Eli Bailey and mother, Beth Fox, and Brystol Bailey and mother, Pamela Gobeli; two step daughters, Linzy Stuart and Lexi Stuart; a brother, Keith Bailey of Sophia; special aunt, Peggy Campbell of Shady Spring; close friends, Steve Stover (who was like a brother), the late Dennis Dangerfield (his hunting buddy), and Lynn Ford Carelli of Crab Orchard. Several cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Bill Parker officiating.
