She left this earth on Saturday, February 16, 2013, after a long illness to join her family in Heaven. She was the last surviving member of her sisters and brothers. Mary was the daughter of John Henry Lilly who died in 1944 and Nancy Birchfield who died in 1932, when Mary was only 18 months old. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Gillenwater, Melvie McCoy, Laura Yearout, and Nancy Young, and her brothers, Benny Lilly, Willard Lilly, Joseph Lilly, and Woodrow Lilly; also gone before her were a daughter, Brenda White, and a granddaughter, Lori Beth Roberts. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Roberts of Beaver; son, Ronnie Roberts and his wife, Wilma, of Beaver, son, Bill Roberts, Jr., and his wife, Lora, of Beaver, and a daughter, Sharon Meredith of Hinton; eleven grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren whom Mary enjoyed immensely. Mary was a homemaker after retiring as a cook. She also worked for Beckley Manufacturing and the Honey in the Rock Motel. She enjoyed going to church, working puzzles, growing flowers, watching and feeding the birds, and collecting angels. She loved spending time with her family and had a wonderful sense of humor, laughing often. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may gather with the family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Other than Jesse's parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Winnie Marion Tucker White and his third wife Brenda Kay Roberts White and a son Jerry Lee White, a brother Robert Lee White, and his grandparents, James M. and Lottie Pettry Alderman, Millard and Vada Gray White, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jesse served in the US Army, in the Korean Conflict and was a coal miner, working for Armco Steel and Peabody Coal Companies.
