"Bill" Morris Jr., 85, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Bill was born in Roanoke on October 6, 1925. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Bill retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway after 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer H. Morris Sr. and Earnestine Moore Morris. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Harth Morris; his daughters, Carol Shifflett, of Salem, Rita Jenkins and husband, John, the "best son-in-law one could have", of Grandy, N.C; his grandchildren, Angela Shifflett Daniel and husband, Jerry, and Trey W. Shifflett III, all of Salem, and Brian J. Jenkins and wife, Meredyth, of Richmond; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Shifflett, and Jacob and Lyn Daniel, all of Salem. He is also survived by former wife, Leona Dalton Morris, of Salem; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Dava Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. on April 10, 2011.3
