Donald Herbert "Don" Greenwood Don Greenwood, 67, of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday June 10, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Danville VA on May 3, 1946 to the late Calvin Greenwood and Ruby Hunt Strickland, he moved to Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School. He courageously and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also predeceased by a sister JoAnn Greenwood Holland and a brother Micky V. Strickland. Surviving are his loving wife of 30 years Ruth Williams Greenwood; daughter, Ursula Lee of Rocky Mount; son Erich Stephens of Roanoke, and two grandsons he is very proud of, Dalton and Wyatt Lee. Also surviving are a brother, Rick Greenwood and wife Debbie; sisters, Paula Strickland Gibson and husband Dewey, Gloria Strickland Harris and husband Troy, Tammy Thacker Heck and husband Julian; aunts, Virginia Hunt Albrecht of Williamsburg, Nadine Greenwood Prillaman and Mary Jo Barker Greenwood of Collinsville. Along with many close nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don loved genealogy and was a Civil War history buff. He was known for his jokes and a strong sense of family. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.3 He was born on May 3, 1946 at Virginia.2,3 He married Virginia Ruth Williams, daughter of Dan Wagner Williams and Hazel Irene Burk, on October 29, 1982 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2,3 Donald Herbert "Don" Greenwood died on June 10, 2013 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 67.3

Mrs. Cockman was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher in the nursery for more than 21 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Burk. Survivors are her husband of 31 years, Andy Lee Cockman of Hinesville; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Kathryn Bowden of Midway; daughter and son-in-law, Neda and John Churchwell of Reidsville; six granchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Scharnagl, Mike Welter, Terry King, Michael Goodson, Russell Howe and Hank Churchwell. on August 16, 2011.1

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an aunt who raised him, Helen Lilly. Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Burk of Princeton and one sister, Barbara Cockman of Hinesville, GA. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel; brother, Bill (Shirley) Green; niece, Quintessence (Matt) Christian; nephew, Lee (Charlotte) Green; and several great nieces and nephes; as well as a sister-in-law, Henrietta Green. She was a retired nurse and resided at Highlawn Place for near 10 years. She will be missed by all who knew her. He was born May 2nd, 1926, at Ingleside, he was the son of the late John W. and Christel Thornton King. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Beth Hollandsworth King, son, Dr. John M. King and wife Jeanie of Beckley, daughters; Mary Beth Trogdon and husband Reverend Robert Trogdon of Eden, NC., Jan Wilkerson and husband Robert Wilkerson of Princeton, Patricia Moore and husband Gary Moore of Wichita, KS., and Kathryn Elliott and husband Reverend Jimmy Elliott of Fuquay Varina, NC. Thirteen grandchildren 10 great grandchildren Sister, Mary Ruth King Hollandsworth of Durham NC His extended family of Dr. Rowena Chambers and her staff, and the Amedisys Hospice Group. Mr. King retired as Chief Dispatcher, Norfolk Southern Railway, Bluefield, after 43 years of service with the Virginian, Norfolk and Western, and Norfolk Southern Railway Companies. He was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on the Halls Ridge Road in Princeton for 47 years where he formerly served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and choir member. He was also a charter member of the Mens Prayer Group and the DMA Dont Mention Age senior citizens of Johnston Chapel.
