Sallie was a retired teacher's aide from Back Creek Elementary School with 33 years of service. She was a lifetime member of Cave Spring Rescue Squad Auxiliary and a member of Haran Baptist Church. Sallie was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for anyone who would come fellowship with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Maggie Cooper Sloan; her husband, Glenn M. Grubb; her daughter, Sylvia Rebecca Grant; and her brother, Charlie "Sonny" Sloan Jr. Surviving are her devoted and loving daughter, Glenda Gail G. Patsel and husband, Randy, of Roanoke County; her grandson, Trey Patsel and wife, Amanda, of Roanoke County; her granddaughter, Ashley Grant of Roanoke; her great-grandchildren, Ashton and Isabella Rebecca Rose Grant and Liam Patsel; her sister, Betty Jedlicka of Koshkonong, Mo; a devoted and loving sister-in-law, Teresa Sloan of Vinton; her stepdaughter, Charlotte Chemavonian of San Mateo, Calif; a niece, Melody; and nephews, Michael and Dale, Brandon and Brian. A Funeral Service will be held at Oakey's South Chapel at noon on Thursday, February 18, 2016, with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Hill Cemetery, Floyd County. on February 17, 2016.²

Sylvia was a graduate of Radford University with a BS in math and statistics and had taught junior high school for 12 years in Fauquier County. She was employed by Verizon until her illness and was a long time member of Poages Mill Church of the Brethren. Sylvia was vice president of the Cave Spring Rescue Squad Auxiliary and was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Marshall Grubb. Surviving is her husband, Westley R. (Donald) Grant; her daughter, Ashley Grant; her grandson, Ashton Phoenix Grant; stepdaughters, Marlene and Ava Coles; her mother, Sallie Sloan Grubb, of Roanoke County; her sister and brotherin-law, Glenda Gail and Randy Patsel, of Roanoke County; a nephew, Trey Patsel; special aunt, Betty Jedlicka and husband, Tex, of Koshkonong, Mo; special uncle, Charlie W. (Sonny) Sloan Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Vinton; half sister, Charlotte Chemavonian, of Millbray, Calif; specials friends, Kathy Lester and Mary Wills; and numerous friends and family members. A funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Oakeys South Chapel with Pastor E.B. Shoemaker and the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. Interment in Copper Hill Cemetery, Floyd County. The family would like to thank Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the doctors and nurses, for all their loving care and concern for Sylvia during her illness and also Larry Jones, with Carilion Hospice, for his loving care. "Bennie" Patsel II, 65, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Bennie was predeceased by his mother, Christine R. Patsel; mother-in-law, Sallie S. Grubb; and sister-in-law, Sylvia G. Grant. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Glenda G. Patsel; son, Carsone R. "Trey" Patsel III (Amanda); grandson, Liam Scott Patsel; father, Carsone R. Patsel; brother, Lucky Patsel (Betty); nephew, Christopher Patsel; beloved furry friend, Sadie; and best friend, Randy Ensor. Bennie, also referred to by friends and family as Randy, retired from Sheet Metal Local 100 after many years as a sheet metal mechanic. Sonny was born in Roanoke, Va. on March 24, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie William Sloan and Maggie Sloan. Sonny is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Teresa Sloan; and his pride, his two sons, Brandon and Brian Sloan; and three granddaughters, Brianna, Emilie and Abigail Sloan. Sonny is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Eliza Slone; sisters, Betty Jedlicka and Sallie Grub; special nieces, Glenda Pastel and Kayleigh Coker; nephew, Nicholas Coker; and a large circle of family, friends and loved ones who hold him close to their hearts. He was born March 6, 1939, a son of the late Rufus Alfred Cooper and Elmetta Kingery Cooper. As a young man, Hal worked for International Harvester Co., and in more recent years, he owned and operated J&B Supply Co., where he gained his reputation as an expert automobile parts supplier. Hal was blessed with a great personality; he never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge of the automobile industry. Hal was a devoted son to his late parents, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a close friend to many. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 44 years, Leilani Leffell Cooper; his daughter, Leilani Lynn Epperly; his son, David Jerome Cooper and his wife, Denise Ferrell Cooper, all of Roanoke; his sister, Patricia Cooper Jefferies and husband, Robert, of Vinton; his brother, Carlton Swain Cooper of Hardy; his grandchildren, Cameron David Cooper, Benjamin Henry Damewood, Julieanne and Christie Lynn Epperly and their father, Steven Warren Epperly; and a host of other relatives and friends including a very special relative and dear friend, Evangeline Short Hall. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel Monday, November 1, 2004 11 a.m. with Pastor Eric Spano, Minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and Pastor Chester Lykins officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. on October 31, 2004.⁴

     Leilani Nell Leffell was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 1300 Mountain View Road, Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ She was born on July 5, 1940 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 As of July 9, 1960,her married name was Cooper.¹ She married Hal Jerome Cooper, son of Rufus Alfred Cooper and Elmetta Myranda Kingrey, on July 9, 1960 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,4,3 Leilani Nell Leffell died on July 20, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 81.³ She Leilani Leffell Cooper, 81, of the Mount Pleasant Community in Roanoke, Virginia, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. She was born on July 5, 1940, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hal J. Cooper. She is survived by her son, David and wife, Donna; two brothers, David Leffell and wife, Donna, and Phillip Leffell and wife, Alice; their special sister, Angie Hall; daughter, Leilani Lynn; son-in-law, Steve; and three grandchildren, Julianne Terry and husband, Ross, Christie Epperly, and Cameron Cooper and wife, Brittney. There are six great-grandchildren that Leilani loved dearly. She was a longtime Registered Nurse at the VA Medical Center in Salem. She was very dedicated and proficient at her career, and she spent most of her younger years at the lake and devoted her life to her family. She also loved her dogs so much. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. on July 21, 2021.³
