Also surviving are four grandchildren, Justin Webb and his wife, Sheina, Tony Webb, Amber Brooks, Taylor Webb; two great-grandchildren, Mikayela and Haylie Webb; a special niece, Jill Hepfner; very lovable kitty cat, Puff; brothers, Gene Webb and his wife, Rachel, Donald Webb and his wife, Gale; sister, Gatha Radford; and a host of other relatives. Carter served in the National Guard and was a building contractor for many years in the Roanoke Valley. His favorite pastime was playing golf with his friends. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home and a service celebrating Carters life will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dave Rochford officiating. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery. on March 24, 2009.5

Delores was born on March 16, 1940, in Paint Bank, Va., to Monsell and Hampton Martin. In addition to her parents, Delores is predeceased by her beloved husband, Carter J. Webb. Delores was retired from Lewis-Gale Medical Center where she had served the community as an X-Ray Technician for 40 plus years. Following her retirement from Lewis-Gale, she had worked for several years at Dunman Floral Supply. Delores loved life and people and always had a smile and a word of kindness or encouragement for everyone she met. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends who have shared their friendship together over the years. Those left to mourn her passing are three sisters, Ama Lowe Martin Reid, of Salem, Louvena Anderson Sanders, of Roanoke, and Martha M. Hepfner, of Blacksburg; also to mourn her passing is a special niece, Jill D. Hepfner; her constant companion, her cat, "Puff;" two nephews, George and David Anderson; three step children, Bruce (Butch) Webb, Tony Webb and Robin W. Brooks; and several step grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thanks to members of the Ferrum College community, especially the President and her husband as well as the staff at Franklin Memorial Hospital for their many acts of helpfulness during this very difficult time. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. David Rochford. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery. on July 15, 2011.2

Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Rachel Webb; daughters, Pamela Blankenship and husband, Ronnie; and Tina Webb; a special grandson, Mitchell Webb Blankenship; brother Don Webb and wife, Gale; sister, Gatha Radford; and serveral nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff on 6 West at Lewis Gale Medical Center for their excellent care and concern. Akers, 94, of Callaway, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2009. He was born October 18, 1914, a son of the late E. Garry and Bevelene Akers. He was also preceded in death by his brother E. Garry Jr., two sons, Gary Lee and Harry Lynn Akers. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 74 years Florence W. Akers; one son, Steven Akers and wife Vicki; one daughter, Cassandra Milliron and husband Jack; four grandchildren and spouses, Jay Milliron (Stephanie), Troy Akers (Amy), Monica Shepard (Gary), Joshua Akers (Lynn); eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are John Corel a very close cousin, just like a brother, who lived with the family several years, Mark Cannaday, a special devoted friend. O.P. was a life long member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and really appreciated and loved his many friends. He was a contract hauler for many years in Franklin County. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. on March 16, 2009.7

Ronnie was born in Roanoke, Va., in 1964 to the late Malcolm Wayne Blankenship and Patricia Sue Bush Blankenship of Roanoke. A graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Ronnie received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ferrum College, Nutritional Science from University of Florida, Certified Executive Chef, Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional, Certified Food Protection Manager, Food Management Professional, HACCP Certified, Accredited Culinary Evaluator, CRM Proctor, ServSafe instructor/ proctor, Career Studies Professor and Dietitian. He worked for over 45 years in Culinary Arts and Food Service, held positions on the American Culinary Federation Southwestern Virginia Chapter Board, and was the American Culinary Federation Southwestern Virginia Chapter Vice President in 2011. Ronnie was a member of the National Ice Carvers Association, the World Association of Chefs and the Association of Food Professionals and Nutritionists. He had an extremely notable culinary career which included Executive Chef at the famous Library Restaurant in Roanoke during the 1980s, worked at world famous area resorts including The Homestead, Greenbrier, Snowshoe, and seasonally at Nags Head, NC, before settling down in Roanoke and starting a hospitality consulting firm, Crescent Creek Consulting, where he made many friends and was affiliated with many great restaurants, hotels and country clubs throughout the United States. Ronnie helped young careers, more recently working with young culinary enthusiasts and young professionals at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation and Central Virginia Community College. He was also recognized for Ice Sculptures throughout Virginia. Ronnie was equally notable as an area musician as he was the youngest musician to ever record at the great Harold Thompson's local recording studio Threshold Recording. He played drums with Kelley's Music founder Richard Kelley in Foremost and Goldust. He made appearances on the Ryman Auditorium Stage, colosseums, and state fairs. As a drummer, he played in many bands and national acts, including Czar, Ocean, Alpha Centauri, Eye of the Storm, Blind Rhino, Brotherhood, Prime-Time, T-Bone Jones, Rapid Transit, Backroads Band, Nashville Showman, Crypto Cats Band and many others including the Patrick Henry High School Band of Gold, the choir band, Pep Band and the jazz band in high school and college. He was also noted for Blues Guitar performances, guitar at Relay for Life events and piano and guitar for special church events throughout the area. Ronnie was a man of many artistic talents including Ice Carver, landscape painter, and poet. He was a proud supporter of Relay for Life and Kiwanis International. Thanks to all his friends and family. Interment will follow the funeral service in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on May 15, 2024.3
