A beloved father and grandfather, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Doris V. Smith of Roanoke; and David R. and Iva V. Smith of Troutville; one daughter, Joyce Smith Williams of Roanoke; one brother, Cecil Smith of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Marie, Beverly, Kevin, Richard, Chad, and Michael; five great-grandchildren, Susan, Hannah, Joshua, Adam, and Daniel. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 1990, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern, Va. with the Rev. Roy Taylor and Charles Ramsey officiating. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery. on February 22, 1990.²

     Robert Worth "Bob" Smith was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ He was born on February 5, 1929 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 He married Doris June Vest on November 20, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,4,7 Robert Worth "Bob" Smith died on July 30, 2017 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 88.⁴ He On July 30, 2017, Robert “Bob” Worth Smith, 88, of Roanoke was called home into the presence of his Savior after a long and faithful pilgrim journey. Bob was preceded in his arrival home by his wife Doris Vest Smith, his parents Hobert and Jane Smith, and his grandson and namesake Adam Robert Smith. He is survived by his three sons, Kevin D. Smith and his wife Joni of Burlington, NC, Richard K. Smith and his wife Hope of Xenia, OH, and Chad M. Smith and his wife Tara of Lynchburg, VA; thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. During his time of commitment with the United States Army, Bob served as a military policeman during the Korean War. Upon completing his military service, he attended and completed a two-year program at the Cornett School of Business in Roanoke. He then began his career with the United States Postal Service that would last over thirty years. Many in the Hollins community came to know him as the kind and friendly face behind the counter of the Hollins branch Post Office. The family would like to especially thank his brother-in-law, Larry Vest and his wife Diane for the unselfish way they have extended themselves in the closing season of his life. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday August 1, 2017 and a graveside service will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 10:00am on Wednesday August 2, 2017. Pastor Kevin Smith of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Burlington, NC will officiate the service along with Pastor David McNeill of New Hope Baptist Church of Roanoke. on August 1, 2017.⁴

She will be missed by her husband, Robert Smith; three sons, Kevin Smith, Richard Smith and Chad Smith; mother, Violet Vest; brother, Larry Vest; and sister, Iva Smith. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens officiated by Dr. Kevin Smith. on July 18, 2016.³

     David Rolland/Roland Smith David R. Smith, 86, of Troutville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Jane Smith, and a sister, Joyce Williams. Surviving are his brother, Robert Smith; wife of 63 years, Iva; a son, Michael (Sandy) a daughter, Beverly Williams, one godchild, three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one niece; and numerous great nephews and great nieces. David served in the U S Army in Korea. He retired from the U S Postal Service with 30 years of service and was a faithful member of Shenandoah Baptist Church for 36 years. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Camp Eagle Fund C/O Shenandoah Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Kevin Smith and Dr. Robert Alderman. In addition to her parents and her husband of 64 years, she was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Diane Vest; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bobby Smith. She was a long-time member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and prior to that was a member of Belmont Presbyterian Church.      John Taylor Hundley John Taylor Hundley, 89, of Daleville, Va., went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on August 24, 1931, to the late Jeremiah (Poage) and Sallie Metz Hundley. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Laura Hundley and Margaret H. Mitchell; brothers, Marvin (infant) and Harold Hundley; son-in-law, Barry Montgomery; and brother-in-law, Woodrow Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; two loving daughters, Elaine H. Montgomery and Diana H. Hackworth (Linley); grandsons, David Montgomery (Rita) and Michael Hackworth; granddaughters, Laura Montgomery and Brittney Cumbie (Scott); great-granddaughters, Judy and Zelena Montgomery, Taylor and Emily Cumbie; great-grandsons, Raylyn Holden and Keegan Montgomery; nephews, Jerry and Fred Hundley, and John Blankenship; and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Hundley and Joan Blankenship. John was a lifelong member of Melrose Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and teacher of Beacon Sunday School Class. He was acknowledged on February 14, 2021, with a Melrose Honors Plaque for faithful service. He attended Bluefield College and was in the 101st Airborne Division, member of Melrose Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Kazim Shriners. He was employed by B.F. Parrott and Company, General contractors as a Superintendent/Estimator from 1951 to 1977. He partnered with Acoustical Service from 1977 to 1992 where he retired as President. John's loves were most of all his Lord and Savior, his church, and his family. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, traveling to the beach, cruising, sitting on the back porch watching the neighbors' dogs play. The family appreciates the special care given to John by Jason and Team at Carilion Hospice. Thanks to the many neighbors and special neighbors, Brenda and Mark Hudgins, a very special caregiver, Lisa, who was a ray of sunshine. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Melrose Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Mofield officiating.
