Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rita Austin; three daughters, Mrs. Lincoln Garrett, Harlan; Mrs. Mary Brooks, Tennessee, and Mrs. Thomas Wright, Cincinnati; two sons, Gerland Austin, Indianapolis, Ind., and Bill Austin, Jamestown, N. C; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dewey Coffman McKinney; a stepson, A. G. Hatter, Norwood, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Griffin and Mrs. Thelma Coffman, McKinley; a brother, Jeff Austin, Morningview, Ky; and several grandchildren. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Geneva Baptist Church in Lincoln County by the Rev. Raymond Kempf and the Rev. Alfred Carrier. Burial, with Masonic rites was in the McKinney Cemetery. on December 16, 1965.²

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Ellen Thomas; a grandson, Jimmy Lee Courtney; six sisters: Joannie Noe, Nannie North, Betty Denny, Gladys Grase, Delora Dotson and Frankie Garrett; and five brothers: James, Ben, George, Ray Thomas and Bill Austin. Survivors include his wife, Leoma Dean Thomas, Kitts; nine children: Janice Britt and husband, Troy, Louisville; Billie Street and husband, Edward, Louisville; Patrisha Stricklin, North Carolina; Betty Jo Thomas, North Carolina; Wesley Thomas and wife, Denise, Harlan; Robert Thomas and wife, Lisa, North Carolina; Lisa Barger and husband, Kenny, Harlan; Ralph Cloud and wife, Candice, Evarts; and Ray Thomas, Harlan; 18 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; four sisters: Faye Belcher, Dayhoit; Mary Brooks, Cleveland, Tenn; Patsy Gailey, Pennington Gap, Va; and Kyla Jones, Harlan; special nephews: Danny Hall and Bill Morgan; special niece, Cathy Clem; sisters-in-law: Joyce Thomas and Anna Ruth Austin; special friends: Pert King and Ken Grubbs; and several other relatives and friends.      Patsy Thomas Patsy Thomas “Gran” Gailey 79 (29) of Stonecreek, Pennington Gap, Virginia, formerly of Harlan passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born June 27, 1935 to the Late Aaron and Ellen “Sis” Thomas. Also preceding her in death were siblings, Bill Austin, Frankie Garrett, Ray Thomas, Johnny Thomas, Fay Belcher, Lori Dotson; grandson, Jamie; and daughters-in-law, Angie Gailey and Marie Gailey. Surviving are her husband, Olan “Pap” Gailey; sister, Mary Brooks; and children, Danny “Brother” (Connie) Hall, Deb (Tony) Witt, Tawnya Landford, Ellen “Rink” (Clarence) Johnson, James “Jim” Gailey, Allen “Babe” Gailey, Robert “Bob” Gailey, Curtis (Laura) Gailey, and Angela (Robert) Ingle. 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Surviving are his wife, Frankie Garrett, Cawood, and two children, Bill Morgan, Lexington, and Cathy Clem, Cawood. Also surviving are four brothers, Nick Garrett, Cawood; Dan Garrett, Mayo Garrett and Wayne Garrett, all of Cranks; two sisters, Lydia Bush, Michigan; and Allee North, Illinois; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson Laws Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Overton officiating. Burial will follow at Browning Cemetery at Cranks.      Olan Gailey Olan Gailey, 82 of Pennington Gap, Virginia, formerly Harlan, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Olan was born July 22, 1934 in Harlan, Kentucky son of the late Clyde and Marie Gailey. He was a retire coal miner for James Dean Coal. He believed in the Holiness Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Thomas Gailey; two daughter-in-laws, Angie Gailey and Marie Gailey; two grandchildren, Baby boy Hall and Jamie Gailey; two brothers, Henry Gailey and Make Gailey; two sisters, Marie Powell and Iddie Gailey; and Special Aunt and Uncle who had raised him, Sim and Mary Gailey. Surviving are his sons, Danny (Connie) Hall of Pennington Gap, James Gailey of Loyall, Alan (DeAnne) Gailey of Pennington, Robert Gailey of Pennington, and Curtis (Laura) Gaiely of Pennington; and daughters, Deborah (Tony) Witt of Pennington, Tawnya Landford of Pennington, Ellen (Clarence) Johnson of Pennington, and Angel (Robert) Engle of Sadieville, Kentucky. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends will also mourn his passing. Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. David Ely officiating. Interment will follow the funeral in the Allen / Thomas Cemetery at Cranks, Kentucky. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
