Furrow, daughter of Stephen Allen "Steve" Furrow and Orpha Gaye Cooper, circa 1944.1,3 Edwin Mayhan Duncan died on March 28, 2006 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 81.4,3 He Edwin M. Duncan, 81, of 105 Bare Drive, Daniels, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born at Beaver on Jan. 15, 1925, he was the son of the late L. E. and Agnes Brash Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a retired employee of Ford Motor Co. in the Walton Hills division in Ohio with 30 years of service, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 32 in Beckley. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Furrow Duncan; four sisters, Jessie McMillion, Mary Frisk, Jean Warden and Margaret Morgan; and two brothers, James and Charles Duncan. Survivors include a son, Freddie Duncan of Mantua, Ohio; two grandchildren, Aaron and Eddie Lee Duncan; nine nieces, Belinda Marchland, Peggy Speaks, Jean Sharon Evans, Brenda Michelle, Nina, Cheryl, Sheila, and Sandy Furrow; eight nephews, Edwin Furrow Sr., David Furrow, John Frisk, David Warden, Charles Morgan, Steve Furrow, Joey Furrow, John Furrow; his best and closest friend, Frank Worrell, of Daniels; and good and loyal neighbors of Bare Drive and Lee Avenue in Daniels. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Dennis Burks officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. on March 30, 2006.3

Born September 7, 1925, in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Cole, Sr. and Nannie Mae Snap Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bluefield. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Gearheart; two sons, Harry and James Gearheart; a daughter, Phoebe Barne; two brothers, Willie and Everett Cole; and one sister, Lucy Mae Cole. Survivors include two sons, Henry S. Gearheart of Bluefield and Tommy Gearheart of Ronoke, VA; one daughter, Peggy Lapral and her husband Dalfort of Roanoke, VA; one brother, John Wesley Cole, Jr of Morgton, N.C; 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2pm from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield with Rev. Larry B. Roberts officiating.
