     Charles Alonzo "C.A." Turner was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia, Appanoose Co., Iowa.^3,4 He was born on May 26, 1878 at Appanoose Co., Iowa.^3,4 He married Ora Myrtle Nowels, daughter of John Edwin Nowels and Eva Jane McKern, on September 19, 1949 at Upland, San Bernardino Co., California.^1,2,4 Charles Alonzo "C.A." Turner died on May 23, 1959 at Albia, Monroe Co., Iowa, at age 80.^3,4 He Mr. C. A. Turner, a life-long resident of the Moravia community, and businessman for the past 63 years, passed away at 7:00 a.m., Saturday at the Albia hospital. He had been to the store Tuesday as was his usual custom and had returned home for noon lunch apparently feeling as well as usual. Shortly after dinner he suffered a light stroke and became worse by mid-afternoon, and was taken to the Albia hospital. There his condition became rapidly worse and passed away there early Saturday. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Turner funeral home, which he originated, and in recent years was in partnership with his son Bert, and son-in-law Carl Black in its operation. Interment was at Hillcrest cemetery. Rev. Weldon Whitenack, pastor of the Moravia Grace Methodist church officiated, assisted by Rev. Lester C. McDonald, pastor of Albia and Hilton Methodist churches. Charles Alonzo Turner, son of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Luse Turner, was born on a farm south of Moravia May 26, 1878 and passed away at the Monroe County hospital May 23, 1959. In 1896 he became associated with his father in the lumber and hardware business, and later established a funeral service in connection with the other business. After the passing of his father he became associated with his son Bert and son-in-law Carl Black in the operation of the business. On July 12, 1899 he was married to Edith Patterson who died April 4, 1946. To this union was born three children. Mrs. Bernice Elison of near Albia, Mrs. Pearl Black and Bert Turner, both of Moravia. In 1949 he was married to Ora Selby, who survives. He was a charter member of Class Number Nine of the Moravia Grace Methodist church, the I.O. O.F. and Rebekah Lodges, and the Moravia Booster Club. He leaves two daughters, one son, two sisters Mrs. Eunice Halden of Moravia, and Mrs. Clara Hiatt of Denver, Colo., three stepdaughters, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two nephews and one niece. on May 28, 1959.⁴

     Fontelle LaRue Selby was buried at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, Orange Co., California.⁵ She was born on October 27, 1901 at Moravia, Appanoose Co., Iowa.^5,6 As of August 18, 1928,her married name was Swenson.⁷ She married Russell Leroy Swenson on August 18, 1928 at Ottumwa, Wapello Co., Iowa.^2,4,7 Fontelle LaRue Selby died on April 10, 1974 at Orange Co., California, at age 72.⁵ She Fontelle Selby Swenson Dies After Heart Attack - Word was received here that Fontelle Selby Swenson suffered a fatal heart attack in early April. Fontelle, daughter of the late Frank and Ora Selby, grew up in Moravia. She moved to Ottumwa when she and Russell Swenson were united in marriage. They recently resided in Laguna Hills, Calif. Her life of dedication and complete unselfishness will continue as an inspiration to all who were so fortunate as to have known her. Survivors are her husband, Russell of Leisure World; two sisters, Oneita Selby and Fern Selby Handy of Los Angeles; and two nephews, Waldo E. Handy II and Frank Selby Handy; and two nieces of San Francisco. Interment was at Newport Beach, Calif. on April 25, 1974.⁴

He served in the Air Force from 1979 - 1982 at Grissom AFB, IN and worked for Serv Air, Inc. at Fairchild AFB, WA. He is survived by his sons: Tyler L. Tinney and Stockton "Max" Tinney and daughter, Madeline L. Tinney. He was a loving father, brother, and son who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Lance will be honored at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, on January 16, 2015, at 11:15 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at the VFW Post 1435, 212 S. David St. in Spokane Valley from 1-4 p.m. on January 11, 2015.⁴
