Stevens; one step-son, Ronnie Baker, three sisters, Bertie Via, Mary Bishop, and Peggy Hall; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to his grandchildren and did his best to spoil them in many ways. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2018, 11 a.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Pastors Nancy Grant and Betty Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in the Alberene Cemetery at Esmont. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston. on January 17, 2018.²

Born Dec. 2, 1932, in Schuyler, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Wilkerson and Alma Ragland Wilkerson. In addition to her parents, her first husband, James A. Shumaker in 1984, preceded her in death. Alma was a retired assembly worker for Comdial and was a member of Antioch Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her husband, Charlie C. "Ike" Via; three daughters, Diana Lynn Ragland, and her husband, Joe, of Faber; Sandra F. Stewart, and her husband, Arthur, of Arlington and Kathryn S. Stevens, of Schuyler; one brother, Calvin Wilkerson, and his wife, Dale, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Angie Ragland, James Stewart, Tammy Smith and Karen Hall; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted June 17 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Rev. Betty Parrish and Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston. on June 19, 2014.¹
