He received his law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1932. After working as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, Mr. Wallenstein moved to Chicago with his wife, the late Evelyn Lerman Wallenstein, in 1935. The couple had been married for 63 years when Mrs. Wallenstein died last year. Mr. Wallenstein joined with John McLaughlin in establishing the McLaughlin & Wallenstein law firm. He later joined with attorneys Charles Spangenberg, Russell Hattis and Harry Strampel. In 1981, Mr. Wallenstein's firm merged with Wagner & Aubel. The firm is known today as Wallenstein & Wagner Ltd. Mr. Wallenstein had been honored by the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago and the Chicago Bar Association for his 50 years of membership. An avid legal scholar, Mr. Wallenstein went to his office daily until 1996, when he moved to an assisted living residence with his wife. Survivors include two daughters, Muriel Goldberger and Joni Wallenstein; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
