Born in Emporia, Va. Apr. 17, 1923, she was a retired beautician and a member of The Tabernacle Church in Chesapeake. She is survived by her husband, Herman T. Yates of Portsmouth; a sister, Nellie B. Moseley; sister-in-law, Maxine T. Chitty, both of Miami, Fla; daughters, Patricia S. Dixon of Portsmouth and Sharon S. Justice of Chesapeake; a son, Johnnie P. Saunders Jr. of Suffolk; a granddaughter, Melissa J. Gelardos; grandson, Jarrad L. Saunders; three great-grandchildren; five nephews; and one niece. She was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua G. Justice. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Emporia Cemetery on Brunswick Avenue, Emporia. A reception for family and friends will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. in Suffolk at the home of Johnnie Saunders Jr., 3729 Indian Trail. on December 5, 2002.³

     Nancy Doris Crawford was buried at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Boulevard, Chesapeake, Virginia.³ She was born on March 9, 1923 at Danville, Virginia.^2,3 As of September 12, 1945,her married name was Yeatts.² She married Raymond Alfred Yeatts, son of John Ellis Yates/Yeatts and Sallie Bettie Walton, on September 12, 1945 at South Carolina.^1,2 Nancy Doris Crawford and Raymond Alfred Yeatts were divorced on May 24, 1978 at Portsmouth, Virginia.² Nancy Doris Crawford died on September 23, 1992 at Portsmouth, Virginia, at age 69.^3,4 She Nancy Doris Yeatts, 69, of the 4200 block of Greenwood Drive, died Sept. 23, 1992, in a nursing home. Mrs. Yeatts was born in Danville. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Costa of Chesapeake and Raynell Ricks of Tampa, Fla; two sons, Charles H. Yeatts of Chesapeake and Roger Totten of Suffolk; a stepson, Garland Yeatts; a sister, Louise Forbes of Norfolk; a brother, George Crawford of Danville; and nine grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association. on September 24, 1992.³
