     Betty Lou Weikle was buried at Meadow Green Cemetery, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, Erie Co., Ohio.3 She was born on July 21, 1929 at Sinks Grove, Monroe Co., West Virginia.1,3 As of July 20, 1952,her married name was Cook.1 She married Warren Guyer Cook, son of Kenzie Elmer Cook Sr. and Lena Annie Spangler, on July 20, 1952 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia.1,2,3 Betty Lou Weikle died on August 12, 2016 at Ohio at age 87.2,3 She HURON — Betty (Weikle) Cook, 87, residing with her daughter and son-in-law in Huron and surrounded by her family, left to meet her Lord Jesus face-to-face on Aug. 12, 2016. Betty was born July 21, 1929, in Monroe County, W.Va., to Elbert C. and Della M. (Fisher) Weikle. Betty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her greatest hope was in Christ. Betty is survived by her husband, Warren G. Cook, whom she married on July 20, 1952; two daughters, Teri (Wayne) Gerber of Huron and Sarah (Jim) Ommert of Sandusky; five grandsons, Brian Gerber of Castalia, Brad (Megan Davis) Gerber of Huron, Steve (Hilary) Ommert of Wadsworth, Mike Ommert of Huron and Matt Ommert of Sandusky; and two great-grandsons, Jackson and Landon Ommert; her sister-in-law, Anna Mae Weikle; and three nephews, Jim, Bobby and Mark Weikle, all of Sandusky. While loved ones have been sad to see Betty leaving this life (She is going ...), others, already in Heaven, have been anticipating her arrival. (She’s on her way!) This joyous reunion included her parents; her sister, Vera Francis Weikle, who died in infancy; and three brothers, Cook Jr., Delford and James Weikle. Friends may call from 4 p.m. Aug. 15 until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor David Hixson presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory in Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.      Her married name was Spangler.1 Virginia M. "Ginny" Kidd married Cecil Ray Spangler, son of Noah Conner Spangler and Valerie Ellen "Ella" Howery.1 Virginia M. "Ginny" Kidd was born on November 11, 1915 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2,1 She died on December 28, 2005 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 90.2,1 She On Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, Virginia M. "Ginny" Spangler died peacefully at her home on Prosperity Road following a short illness. She was in her 91st year. Born Virginia May Kidd on Nov. 11, 1915, at Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Elisha and Maggie Bell Stroud Kidd. Virginia spent her childhood in Beckley on Lincoln Street where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Known affectionately as Ginny all her life, she began a career with the C&P Telephone Company at the age of 17, earning $11 a week as a telephone operator. She was eventually promoted to chief operator, retiring in October 1983 as a traffic service advisor with 48 years, 6 months and 19 days of service. During World War II, Ginny helped establish a message center at Ashford General Hospital, now The Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs. Ginny was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church on Heber Street, where she sang in the choir. She played the piano and was a member of the Chaminade Music Club. She also held memberships in Beckley Woman's Club and Telephone Pioneers of America and was a charter member of the Beckley Quota Club. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Beckley barber Ray Spangler, on March 14, 1980. Survivors include three nieces, Rose Worley of Beckley, Betty Turley and husband, Buddy, of Montgomery and Dorothy McKinney of Maxwell Hill; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kidd; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 31, 2005 in the Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley. Arrangements were by Melton Mortuary, Beckley. on January 7, 2006.1

He was a veteran of World War II in the first Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He participated in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily, and Italy and was awarded a bronze star and a purple heart. Mr. Wood was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was also a lifetime member of Waverly Place Baptist Church and was a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Carter Wood; and also two sisters, Glendola and Versie. Surviving is a sister, Eleanor Newcomb, of Norfolk; four children, Brenda Hollyfield and husband, Bobby, Booneville, N.C., Donald Wood, Roanoke, Randal Wood and wife, Linda, Roanoke, and Alisa Wood-Walters and husband, Doug, Portland, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The Wood family would like to thank the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center and also at the VA Medical Center for the excellent care their dad received over the past several years. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Burial to follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221. on August 6, 2009.4
