     Janet Lynn Hodges Janet Lynn Adkins, August 13, 1961 - September 10, 2016. Janet Lynn Adkins, 55, of Chestnut Knob Road Ridgeway, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born August 13, 1961 in Martinsville to the late Noreta Peters Hodges and Tom Hodges. She had been a supervisor at Hooker Furniture. Janet was a member of the Intercontient Church of God and had devoted her life to helping autistic children. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Albert Ray Adkins In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Aaron Adkins and a special grandson, Jacob Strait of the home; two daughters, Tabatha Keith (Jeff) of Bassett and Kasey Turner (Barry) of Ridgeway; a son, Adam Adkins (Holly) of Ridgeway; father and stepmother, Tom and Lois Hodges; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arbra and James Handy of Ridgeway; a sister, Lisa Shively (Darryl) of Ferrum; four brothers, Mitchell Hodges, Sr. and Ricky Hodges of Ferrum; Tony Hodges (Barbara) of Martinsville and Steven Hodges of Clemmons, Fl; a brother-in-law, Avery Adkins (leisa); two sisters-in-law, Della Conway and Tina Smith; four granddaughters, MaKenzie Strait, Isabel and Alyssa Turner, and Audrey Adkins; one grandson Andrew Turner 6 aunts, 2 uncles, 6 nephews, 4 nieces, one great niece and a number of great-nephews and cousins.3 She was born on August 13, 1961 at Martinsville, Virginia.1,3,2 As of June 18, 1981,her married name was Cruise.1 She married William Henry Cruise on June 18, 1981 at Collinsville, Henry Co., Virginia.1 As of July 30, 1999,her married name was Adkins.1 Janet Lynn Hodges married Aaron Roderick Adkins on July 30, 1999 at Henry Co., Virginia.6,1,3 Janet Lynn Hodges died on September 10, 2016 at Dobson, Surry Co., North Carolina, at age 55.3

He is survived by his loving wife, Lennis Arene Pickerel of 61 years. Glenn was born on March 6, 1934, in Stuart, to Ella and William Pickerel. He married Lennis Arene Via on December 24, 1954, and welcomed son, Darrell Glenn Pickerel on September 18, 1956. Glenn was an accomplished business man working in management with Pulaski Furniture Company for 32 years before retiring in 2000. He was also an active Deacon at Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski for many years, as well as an avid hunter and loved being outdoors. His grandchildren remember him as a kind and fun-loving grandfather who always encouraged and loved them dearly. Although, his time with his great-grandson, Zechariah was short, they had a bond that was unexplainable. Family will receive friends at Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski, Virginia on Monday, January 18, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. from the Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski with the Rev. Michael Jones officiating. A Graveside service will be held at Woolwine United Methodist Church in Woolwine, Va. At 2 p.m. following the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. Following the graveside service the family will be in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Memorial Baptist Church. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski. on January 17, 2016.1
