son of the late Mary Lewis Lovelace and Robert Lewis. He married the former Ossie Newby Dec. 25, 1903. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Pansy Vhite of Keeling, Mrs. Louise Talbott, Mrs. Pricie Whitt, both if Danville; four sons, Ernest Edward Lewis and Hughie Thomas Lewis, both of Danville, Elisha W. Lewis of New York, and Otis Lee Lewis of Durham. N.C. and 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. on June 21, 1962.2

He was first married to Emma Lee Compton who died April 10, 1960, and on September 14, 1964 he was married to Lorene Dalton who survives. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hill and Miss Alice Faye Lewis both of Danville, one step-daughter, Mrs. Christine Worley of Rt, 4, Gretna; and two step-sons: Carroll Lee Dalton of Danville and Sanford Dalton of Altavista. Also three sisters, Mrs. Pansie White of Keeling, Mrs. Guy Talbott and Mrs. Pricie Whitt both of Danville, three brothers, H. T. Lewis of Danville; Bill Lewis of New York City and Otis L. Lewis of Durham, 2 grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Swicegood Chapel last Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. James Worley and the Rev. John Finklea. Interment followed in Highland Burial Park. The pallbearers were: Russell Worley, Carroll Dalton, Sanford Dalton, Lawson Compton, Pat Glenn, Richard Compton, Weidon Compton and Bob Keatts. on May 27, 1973.6

A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., he was a retired manager of T & T Oil Co. in Danville, Va. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Elaine D. Lewis; a stepdaughter, Martha Hamlett of Virginia Beach; two stepsons, Ronnie Hamlett of Virginia Beach, Jerry Hamlett of Roper, N.C; two sisters, Louise Talbott, Pricie Whitt, both of Danville; a brother, Otis Lewis of Burlington, N.C; two step-grandsons, a step-granddaughter and 23 nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Gardens, Danville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Congregational Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church, 1514 Sparrow Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23325. The body will be sent to Swicegood Funeral Home in Danville for services and burial. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements. on August 9, 1996.5

She was predeceased by one daughter, Lorraine Stowe; three brothers and one sister. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. form the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Albert Moser officiating. Interment will the follow to Highland Burial Park. on March 9, 2009.3
