     Margaret Geraldine "Deannie" Merrix Margaret Geraldine Kessinger “Deanie”, 71, of Pembroke Street, Pembroke, Virginia departed this life Friday afternoon, May 6, 2016 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born in Giles County on December 22, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Kendill and Hettie Sue Martin Merrix of Goldbond. She had employed herself with her homemaking and working with professional caterers. “Deanie” leaves to cherish her memory her husband Jesse A Kissinger of Pembroke; her sons Barry A Kessinger of Pembroke, John L Kessinger of Pembroke and James Todd Kessinger of Florida; her grandchildren John Allen Kessinger, Montana Kessinger, J L Kessinger, Jr., and Dakota Kessinger; her great-granddaughter Kylee Iris Kessinger; her sisters Shelvy M Robertson, Shirley M Thornhill and Betty M Shrader. Memorial services are private following cremation at Deanie’s request.² She was born on December 22, 1944 at Giles Co., Virginia.^3,2 As of August 31, 1960,her married name was Kessinger.⁴ She married Jesse Allen Kessinger on August 31, 1960 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^4,2 Margaret Geraldine "Deannie" Merrix died on May 6, 2016 at Blacksburg, Virginia, at age 71.²

(Tommy) Martin, 55, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005. The Angels came today and took Tommy home to be with his Heavenly Father. Tommy was a Vietnam Veteran where he served in the U. S. Army for three years and was a proud member of the Rocky Mount Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years. He was also a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and an avid animal lover and will be dearly missed by his longtime companion, Woody, as well as all of his many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert F., Jr. and Madeline M. Martin. Survivors include his daughters, Lori Denise Caldwell and Candace Renee Martin, all of Boones Mill; his granddaughter, Kristen Paige Caldwell; his former wife and Angel of Mercy, Judy W. Martin, Rocky Mount; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Nettie M. Martin, Live Oak, Fla; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon M. and Billie L. Chitwood, Glade Hill; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 with Dr. William R. Shively and Rev. William Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Judy Martin, 1705 Scuffling Hill Road, Rocky Mount. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount. on January 12, 2005.²
