Mr. George Allen Lawter is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Talley Lawter; four daughters, Joan Lawter and husband Rusty Curle, Janet Lawter Lantz and husband Richard, Jean Lawter Hatch and husband Jon and Jackie Lawter Armistead and husband Sonny; one son, Allen Lawter, and wife Donna; 11 grandchildren, Jamie Hudson and wife Heather, Jessica Hatch and fiance Luke, Jenny Clark and husband Jordan, Joanna Marchetti and husband Anthony, Ashley Gibbs and husband Whit, Justin Armistead and wife Jess, Mallory Lawter, Dani Lawter, Jack Hatch, Lyndsay Lawter and Mackenzie Lawter; seven great-grandchildren, Haley Lantz-Riggs, Audrey Hudson, Olivia Hudson, Cooper Clark, Finley Armistead, Lawter Marchetti and Brentley Gibbs. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the Halifax Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 2172 East Hyco Road, South Boston, VA 24592.
