The pallbearers were Jessie Brooks, Jessie Kent, Alton Newby, Edward Newby, Fred Shelton, Richard Shelton, Claude Vaden, Hester Vaden, and Jones Newby. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Massie King, Miss Hallie Wilkerson, Miss Evelyn Wilkerson, Miss Thressa Newby, Mrs. Clarence Alderson, and Miss Evelyn Kent. on November 6, 1935.4

"Pink" Boothe died on February 7, 1937 at Danville, Virginia, at age 86.2,3 She Mrs. Pink Newbie, age 87, passed away Sunday morning at 9:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Lewis, 514 Worsham street. Mrs. Newbie was the wife of Elisha Newbie who preceded her to the grave 22 years ago. Mrs. Newbie was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lewis when she was taken sick last Monday. She had been making her home with her daughter. Mrs. W. M. Farmer of Chatham. Mrs. Newbie is survived by the following children; Willie Thomas Newbie of Slatesville; Mrs. Henrie Newbie of Dry Fork; Mrs. W. M. Farmer, of Chatham; Mrs. Jack Farmer of Paces; Mrs. S. B. Ingram, of Greensboro. N.C; Mrs. Mary McDaniel of Chalk Level and Mrs. C. E. Lewis of Danville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the home of Mrs. C. E. Lewis, 514 Worsham street. Services will be conducted by Elder J. E. Herndon and interment will be in the family burial ground near Kentuck. on February 8, 1937.3

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lena Price Moon Newby, of Madison Heights; two daughters, Mrs, Flossie Richardson, of Danville; Mrs. Effie Simmons of Keeling and eight step-children. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Ocie Lewis of the Franklin Turnike; Mrs. Emma Farmer, Mrs. Daisy Farmer, Mrs. Sally Shelton, of Chatham; one brother, Henry Newby, of Chatham, and 10 grandhildren. on August 14, 1952.5

Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Mr. Farmer, who was 69, died unexpectedly Sunday at his home. Born in the Java community of Pittsylvania County May 2, 1897, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farmer. He was first married to Mrs. Emma Newby Farmer who died in 1962, and he was later married to Mrs. Dennie Falls Farmer, who survives him. He also leaves one brother, R. B. Farmer of Highland Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Morrison Barley of Chatham and Mrs. Alvin E. Chambers of Blackstone. The body will rest at the funeral home, and the family will be at the residence on Hurt St. on October 4, 1966.6

Survivors include her husband, Henry Crofort Newby, and the following sons and daughter: James Henry Newby, Chatham Rt. 2; Jesse Bennett Newby, Chatham Rt; Mrs. Bennie Giles, Dry Fork Rt. 1; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Musiec, Riffe, Washington, and one brother, Jake Jones, Danville, FD. The body will remain at Scott Funeral Home until noon Tuesday when it will be carried to Bannister Spring Primitive Baptist Church for services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the family cemetery on the Wyatt Oaks Farm near Dry Fork. on February 16, 1953.3
