Her Social Security Number was 278-14-5529.2 Mame Elliot Mame Elliot Harmon, age 76, of Kingston, Ohio, died Jan. 26, 1998. She was born on March 25, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy William Murray Jr. in 1944, who died during the Normandy Invasion. She then married local attorney Charles D. Harmon in 1956, and he died in 1983. Mrs. Harmon came to Marion in 1955 to work for Dr. Carl Sheehe. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church; a graduate of Marysville High School; attended Ohio State University in the first dental hygienist class; and graduated from the University of Southern California. She was a member and founder of Marion Mixers Garden Club; Marion Garden Club; life member of State Garden Club; Mansfield district director of Garden Club of Ohio; Town and Country Garden Club; Marion Garden Forum; Marion County Historical Society; and a certified landscape designer. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the world. She is survived by her daughters, Ms. Pamela Murray of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Robert J. (Bonnie) Welty of Columbus, and Mrs. John (Barbara Harmon) Larson of Morrison, Colo; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Ben (Jane) King of Dayton, Ohio, and Nancy Sass of Sylvania, Ohio. Two sons preceded her in death, David Harmon and Charles Harmon. Memorial services will be conducted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Holliger officiating at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30. At Mrs. Harmon's request, her body has been donated to Ohio State University. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice, c/o Marion General Hospital. Ruth J. Anderson was buried at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, Summit Co., Ohio.1 She was born on March 9, 1922 at Lexington, Davidson Co., North Carolina.1,2 As of 1945,her married name was Murray.3 She married James Riley Murray, son of Roy William Murray Sr. and Belva Riley, in 1945.3,1 Ruth J. Anderson died on August 27, 2010 at Ohio at age 88.1,2 She Ruth Anderson Murray died Aug. 27, 2010. She was born in Lexington, N.C., on March 9, 1922. After she graduated, she worked in an attorney's office. Just before Pearl Harbor she met a young soldier, Jim Murray, who was stationed at the Air Force base in Charlotte. They corresponded all through the war while he was in the South Pacific and when the war was over, they married in 1945. Ruth and Jim moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1946 and over the next six years, had three children who would survive them: Susan Murray-Moore, Jeffrey Murray and Lisa Murray. She is also survived by son-in-law Keith Moore; nieces Joan Craven of North Carolina, and Pam Murray of Texas; and sister-in-law Cloie Anderson of North Carolina. She will also be remembered by nephews Thomas Green of Virginia, and John Green of North Carolina, Jack Anderson and Sue Korm of North Carolina, and many great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Murray worked for the Cuyahoga Falls Schools in the office of the assistant superintendent. Among her duties was to find substitute teachers each morning as they were needed. There are teachers all over the area who still remember her southern drawl at 6 in the morning. Mrs. Murray was a master bridge player and up until her last illness, she played bridge every Wednesday with close friends. Bridge was her passion along with music from the big band era, a good book, cooking, and of course, her children. Her children will forever see their parents dancing to "Moonlight Serenade" and remember them walking on the beach where they were so happy. A funeral service was conducted at United Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Dr. Richard A. Hasler officiating. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1815 West Market St., Suite 108, Akron 44313. Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. on September 19, 2010.1
