Her survivors include, six beloved daughters, Vivian Foley and her husband John, Roanoke, Barbara Woods and her husband Edgar, Salem, Bernice Vest and her husband Ralph, Moneta, Goldie Rayfield and her husband Jim, Roanoke, Daris Abshire and her husband Robert, Gallatin, Tenn., Ruby McCann and her husband Sherman, Roanoke; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Junior, Marcus, Theodore, and Glairwood Blankenship; two sisters, Texana Herndon and Mary Jane Melton. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2000 at Oakeys South Chapel with the Rev. James Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. on January 30, 2000.2

Born June 24, 1931 in Roanoke, Va., he was a son of the late Charles A. and Helen A. McCann. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda McCann Rucker, and Jennifer J. Hall; wife of 23 years, Ruby McCann; grandson-in-law, Ben Butler; great-grandson, Forrest Dugger. Mr. McCann was a graduate of Jefferson High School. After high school he served four years in the United States Navy. He retired after 37 years of service with the Norfolk Southern Railroad and following his retirement from the railroad, he founded RSM Enterprises Cleaning Service which he operated for 21 years. Surviving are his daughters, Sharon Poff and Diana Ratcliffe; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Michele (Kurt) Kipley; stepson, Scott (Sheila) Willie; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. on December 13, 2020.3
