She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Beverly Eichel and husband Ron of the home; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. She also has a brother, Mr. Keener Hall of Gladstone, MO; two sisters: Mrs. Janet Russ of Goodview, VA and Mrs. Louise Hounshall of Franklinton, LA. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, James, and a grandson. Richard Lodge Jr. A graveside service will take place at the High Bridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Natural Bridge, VA. on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. There are no local services scheduled. The McEwen Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monroe, North Carolina is serving the family.4

Barbara's unwavering love and devotion to her family, and her firm belief in God, provides ultimate peace for those who knew, and loved her. Barbara enjoyed being an active member of First Church of the Brethren, as well as her volunteer work at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. She will be remembered as being a kind, gentle and giving woman, who was always willing to offer help, to those in need. Her greatest joys, were family and spreading the word of God. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Letcher C. Smith. Surviving are her four sons, Herman (Mitzi) Smith, David Smith, Ricky Smith, Tracey (Crystal) Smith; and two daughters, Penny S. Cundiff, Diane (Donnie) Hodges. Her grandchildren include Jonathan (Jamie) Smith, Sheila Smith, Frankie Smith, Hunter Smith, Monica Cundiff, Kimberly Anderson, Brittany Smith, Sterling (Ashley) Smith, Seth (Jordan) Smith, Erica (Adam) Fry, Ryan (Emily) Smith, and Hope Smith; along with step-grandsons, Cody Almond and Dustin Almond. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren; and Barbara's special friends at Tanyard Village Apts. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at First Church of the Brethren in Rocky Mount with the Rev. John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount. Flowers are appreciated, however those who so desire, may make memorial donations to "First Church of the Brethren" 405 Tanyard Rd., Rocky Mt, VA 24151. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount. The family would like to thank CRMH, and all who provided care, kindness, and support during Barbara's brief illness. on April 7, 2017.4
