     Richard Leon Eckerley Richard Leon Eckerley, 82, of rural Peru, Indiana, died at 11:00 pm Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at his son Brad's home, in Peru. He was born on Dec. 23, 1940, in Miami County, Indiana, to Herbert and Helen (Titus) Eckerley. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Noble Township High School. He married Suzanne Pennycoff at the Center Chapel First Brethren Church on February 16, 1962. He was a retired farmer and attended the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Peru. Richard enjoyed farming, gardening, chocolate, and reading and studying his Bible. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Eckerley of Peru; four children, Brent (Tracy) Eckerley of Warsaw, Indiana, Bryan (Kyle) Eckerley and Brad (Natasha) Eckerley, both of Peru, and Beth Eckerley of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jessie (William Scot) McClain of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kyle (Cyrus) Lingle of Oak Grove, Kentucky, Alyssa (Kody) Case of Peru, Andrew (Katie) Eckerley of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Jacob Eckerley of Wabash, Indiana, Lucas (Alyssa) Eckerley of Fishers, Indiana, and Caleb Eckerley of Peru; six great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Julia (Dave) Wolfrum of Wabash, Gene (Judy) Eckerley of Mishawaka, Indiana, Larry (Linda) Eckerley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Patricia Raker of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Sharon (Bob) Hill of Wabash. Surviving with his parents are two brothers, Paul and Phillip Pennycoff, and three sisters, Jennifer, Bethany and Megan Pennycoff, all of Fort Wayne. Robert had been living with his grandparents, Leo and Blanche Fouts, and was a fifth grade pupil at victory School. He attended Center Chapel Brethren Church.      Patricia A. "Patti" Love Patricia A. “Patti” Fouts (Love) of Fort Wayne (Harlan), 71, passed to the Arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 6, 2020, due to complications resulting from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Chemotherapy Treatments (non-COVID related). Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Patti was the daughter of the late Walter Love and Elsie Love who survives. Patti graduated from Woodlan High School and later in life, earned her Associates degree in Accounting from IVY Tech. During her working years she was a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for several companies, most-recently Office Administrator for SCORE of Fort Wayne. Patti worked and was an active partner in many ways with the Girl Scouts of America (Limberlost Council): Camp Logan Director, Troop Leader, Paid Admin Staff, Cookie Mgr. +.. On a perfect day, Patti enjoyed being outdoors in her large yard & garden, watching the wildlife, playing with her dog Lacy, and especially watching the birds. In earlier years, she enjoyed camping, hiking, and traveling to see family in OH & CO, as well as many a State Parks throughout the Region. Surviving are her mother, Elsie Love; children, Rita (Rogers) Bulegeya (of Masaka, Uganda), Robert (Jaqueline) Bennett (of CO Springs), Darrik (Krystal) Fouts (of South Bend), Dacia Rodriguez (of Niles, MI); 8 grandchildren; siblings, Chris (Frank) Hartman (of St. Joe), Frank Love (of Harlan), and Lisa (Brad) Wickham-Love (of Dacono, CO).      Karen S. Niswonger Karen (Niswonger) Pennycoff passed away at her Fort Wayne home on December 19, 2014. She is survived by 4 children Jennifer Sarrazin, Philip Reimund, Bethany (Travis) Rood and Megan (Frank) Wideman. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren that she took great joy in spending time with Brittney Sarrazin, Joseph Sarrazin, Andrew Carter, Racheal Pennycoff, Robert Maple, Katie Reimund, Austin Reimund, Lucas Wideman, William Maple, Aidan Reimund, Mackenzie Rood and one great grandson that was the light of her world, Adam Coyle. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia (Jim) Rahrer and Beverly Lynn. Mrs. Pennycoff is preceded in death by her husband; William Pennycoff Sr, her parents; Joseph & Gertrude Niswonger and siblings Joe Niswonger and Barbara Niswonger. McManis, age 81, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Twin City Health Care, Gas City, Indiana. Caroline was born October 27, 1930, in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of the late Otho and Blanche (Tibbetts) Webb. She married John S. McManis on October 20, 1968, and he survives. Caroline was a volunteer for the Marion High School band and also at Marion General Hospital. She was a 4H leader, enjoyed sewing and loved to bowl. Survivors include: husband, John S. McManis of Marion, Indiana; three sons, John David (Brenda) McManis of Gas City, Indiana, Dennis (Beverly) Cattin of Peru, Indiana, and Glenn Cattin of Indiana; three daughters, Gayle (Tim) Paulson of Melbourne, Florida, Pam Harper of Winamac, Indiana, and Connie (Larry) Denten of Marion, Indiana; sister, Jeanette Long of Hollywood, Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy and Connie Cattin. The baby was born July 4 at Dukes hospital, the daughter of Richard and Caroline (Webb) Cattin. Survivors are the parents; their paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cattin of Route 2; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otho Webb of Fort Wayne; two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Paul Cattin of Route 2 and Mrs. Tibbetts of Peru; and a great-grandfather, Hugh Rupp of Peru. Burial was in the Roann I.O.O.F. cemetery. on July 10, 1951.¹

He was born on September 2, 1960, in Peru, Indiana, to Paul J. and Sondra Sue (Cattin) Houlihan. Greg married Sally Simpson at the Honeywell Center in Wabash on November 13, 1982; she died January 8, 2022. He worked for Shirt Shed, North Central Co-op lumber yard, drove fuel truck for North Central Co-op, and owned and operated Houlihan Lawnmower Sales and Service in Wabash for 30 years. Greg was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ and Richvalley Lions Club. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, showing cattle, his farm ground and pond, talking with people, and especially loved his grandchildren. He is survived by two children, Brandon (Alyssa) Houlihan of Wabash, and Jessica (Gene) Collins of Roann, Indiana, four grandchildren, Keagan Houlihan and Karstyn Houlihan, both of Wabash, Hunter Collins of Roann, and Alexis Gates of Wabash, mother, Sondra Sue Houlihan of Wabash, sister, Colette Sidwell of Peru, and brother, Gary (Nancy) Houlihan of Warsaw, Indiana. Sally was a homemaker and also part owner of Houlihan Lawnmower in Wabash and was the bookkeeper for the business for several years. She was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash. Sally enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, animals, and collecting cookie jars. She also enjoyed watching cooking shows and Judge Judy on Tv, and also enjoyed watching her children show cattle. She is survived by her husband, Greg Houlihan of Wabash, two children, Brandon (Alyssa) Houlihan of Wabash, and Jessica (Gene) Collins of Roann, Indiana, four grandchildren, Keagan Houlihan, Karstyn Houlihan, and Alexis Gates, all of Wabash, and Hunter Collins of Roann. He formerly owned and operated Hoosier Building Maintenance. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Vincent's DePaul Society, American Legion and St. Charles Catholic Church. Mr. Miller was born at the family farm on Madams Creek, near Hinton, on Sept. 21, 1930. He was the son of the late Virgil and Eva Bennett Miller and the grandson of the late Lacy Ballard Miller and Cora Dodd Miller Hinton and the late John and Izora Bennett. Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Miller; and a brother-in-law, Oscar Basham. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Joyce Harvey Miller. They would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 26. Other survivors include a daughter, Medeta Watts, of Justice, W.Va; sons, Lacy Lynn Miller and wife, Mary, of Cool Ridge, W.Va; Tommy Harvey (a cousin raised from childhood) and wife, Christy, of Forest Hill. He also left a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory. Mr. Miller, who was known as "Jimmy" to his family and many friends, was a graduate of Hinton High School and West Virginia Institute of Technology at Montgomery, W.Va. He also attended Concord College. Jimmy was a retired Summers County School teacher with 34 years of service. He taught Industrial Arts and Mathematics. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the end of the Korean War. Jimmy was master woodworker and produced many pieces of fine furniture for his family and friends. He was also an avid gardener. He and his wife, Joyce, took great joy in canning and freezing their produce, as well as sharing liberally with others. Jimmy was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church at Red Sulphur Springs. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, with Pastors Derrick Leslie and Darrell Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral parlors. Rudy Allen, Lake Lyons, Randy Hodges, David Basham, Daniel Basham, Johnny Booth and Bob Cales will serve as pallbearers. She was a former school teacher of the Josiah Lilly School and had attended Concord College. She was known for her expertise of sewing and seamstress work and enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Ruth was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Basham; brother, James L. Miller; and sister, Margaret Miller. She was a lifelong resident of Madam Creek. Surviving: mother, Mrs. Eva Bennett Miller of Madam Creek; brother, James of Forest Hill; sister, Mrs. Ruth Basham of Jumping Branch. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton, Summers County, with the Rev. Elmo Alderman and the Rev. Reno Richmond officiating.
