Sharon Rose Wirt Sharon Rose Snyder, of Salem, VA, and formerly of Woodstock, VA, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born on December 10, 1943, in Pulaski, VA, to Robert Wirt and Virginia Rebecca Ferguson. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Charles "CB" Snyder Jr; sister, Mary Wirt Moore; brother, Robert Wirt; as well as her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael of Roanoke, VA, and his fiancée, Larissa Wright, and their daughter, Brooklynn; as well as special cousin, Mitzi Thurman and her husband, Clinton, of Boones Mill, VA; along with other cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in law, David Combs and his wife, Linda, of North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Peg Martin and her husband, Shelby, of Kentucky. After moving to Shenandoah County in 1967, she spent her entire professional career working for local financial institutions. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Woodstock and previously attended First Church of Columbia Furnace, VA. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing Yahtzee, Uno and Rook, gardening, and her beloved cats. She was blessed with many great friends and neighbors through the years, and cherished her time spent with them. Her and Charlie moved to Salem in 2012 and enjoyed their remaining years there. The family would like to thank Affinity Care of Roanoke for the care and kindness given to Sharon.4 She was buried at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, 2677 Fravel Road, Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., Virginia.5 She was born on December 10, 1943 at Pulaski, Pulaski Co., Virginia.2,6,4 As of October 18, 1963,her married name was Snyder.2 She married Charles Bernard Snyder Jr. on October 18, 1963 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,4 Sharon Rose Wirt died on March 6, 2025 at Virginia at age 81.4

Charles Bernard Snyder Jr. Charlie "Mike" Snyder, of Salem, Virginia and formerly of Woodstock, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Snyder of Salem; son, Michael Snyder of Roanoke; brother, David Combs and his wife Linda of North Carolina; sister, Peggy Martin and her husband Shelby of Kentucky; special sister-in-law, Mary Moore; special cousin, Mitzi Thurman; numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie joined the U.S. Army and served three and a half years, after graduating from Dilce Combs Memorial High School in Jefferson, KY in 1959. After completing several schools, he had a tour of duty in Korea with the 9th Calvary, 1st Recon, DMZ Police. After discharge from the Army, he was employed as a fireman for the Roanoke City Fire Department, Station 10, Engine Company #2, for several years before joining the Virginia State Police, retiring after 25 years of service as Sergeant. After retiring, he was self-employed for another 12 years. He attended Lord Fairfax Community College, University of LaSalle and University of Virginia. Charlie held life memberships in the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Scottish Rite and the N.R.A., where he was a certified firearms range, a Hunter Safety Instructor. He was a charter member of the Virginia State Police Association, and a member of the Virginia State Police Alumni Association and the Kentucky Colonels. Charlie also belonged to the E.C.C. (Edinburg Coffee Club) at Bo's Interstate Shell, where the motto is "Walk in with a G.E.D. and leave with a PhD". Charlie enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms, NASCAR and working on his 1951 Willis M-38 Army Jeep. Survivors include his wife, Linda Kessinger Hurst of the home; mother, Yvonne Legg Hurst of Bluefield, W.Va; one daughter, Amanda Maria Hurst of Beckley, W.Va; one sister, Lani Crane and husband Kevin of Bluefield, W.Va; nieces, Kellie Crane and Maranda Crane; special nephew and best buddy, Landon Crane. Funeral service will be held for Larry on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Reverend Stephen Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. where Scott Craft, Carlyle Parcell, Danny Gaither, Ted Kessinger Jr., Ernie Rickman and Raymond Fagg Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to Larry's service on Sunday. on January 29, 2011.2
