     Robert Dean "Scotty" Scott was buried at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.³ He was born on April 16, 1931 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,4 He married Bobbie Jean Hall, daughter of Henry Robert Hall and Allie Lee Stanley, on February 16, 1952 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.¹ Robert Dean "Scotty" Scott and Bobbie Jean Hall were divorced on July 12, 1976 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁵ Robert Dean "Scotty" Scott died on December 12, 2008 at Virginia at age 77.^4,3 He Robert Dean (Scotty) Scott, of Chesapeake, passed away on December 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lelia Scott. He is survived by his "other half", Barbara Scott. They were happily married for 32 years. He is also survived by five daughters and one son, Bonnie and Roger Smith, Kathie and Charles Davenport, Beckie Sill, Robin Kellam and Eric Bennett, Tammie Athern, and Mark Scott; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Charles Scott. He retired from Pet Dairy, Standard Coffee, and worked for 10 years at D&M Seafood. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. Scotty was a wonderful man with a huge heart. He loved his wife and family and was an avid Nascar fan. He leaves behind a lot of friends and special friends of Bill's. on December 14, 2008.³

She was preceded by her father, Robert (Scottie) Scott; and stepfather, James (Jim) Johnston. Bonnie was a 1975 graduate of William Fleming High School and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. She was an active participant in the Southernette's where she both took and taught baton. Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Roger Smith; daughter, Deanna "Dee" Humphries; sons, Scotty Smith and Dean-o Smith; granddaughter, Lilly Cox; mother, Bobbie Johnston; stepmother, Barbara Scott; brother, Mark Scott; stepsisters, Robin, Beckie, Kathie, and Tammy; and several nieces and nephews. on September 16, 2018.⁵

     Roger Dale Smith Roger Dale Smith, Aug 30, 1954 - Aug 18, 2024. Roger Dale Smith, 69, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 18, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Judy Smith; brother, Mark Smith; and beloved wife, Bonnie Smith. Roger is survived by his daughter, Deanna "Dee" Humphries and husband Mickey; sons, Scotty Smith and Dean-o Smith and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Lilly Cox and Phoenix Humphries; siblings, Richie Smith, David Smith and wife Susan, Jon Smith and wife Etta, Randy Smith and wife Shirley, Sandi Casella and husband Brian, and Carl Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.      Earl Robert Shorter was buried at Yopp Family Cemetery, Franklin Co., Virginia.⁴ He was born on April 26, 1942 at Franklin Co., Virginia.² He married Shirley Mae Nichols, daughter of Cleveland Henry Nichols and Lou Ella "Ellie" Hall, on February 16, 1962 at Charlottesville, Virginia.¹ Earl Robert Shorter died on May 15, 2010 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 68.³ He Earl Robert "Papa Smurf" Shorter, 68, formerly of Callaway, Va. went to meet his parents Thomas and Ethel Shorter and son Mark A. Shorter and sister Mary Nichols on Saturday May 15, 2010. He made his home with a nephew Russell and Amanda Biggs of Thaxton, Va. He is survived by his son, Jimmy R. Shorter, Stuarts Drafts, Va; daughters, Lisa Hunn of Glade Hill, Lucy S. Underwood of Callaway; sisters, Nancy (Tommy) Murray of Vinton, Betty (Fletcher) Nichols of Callaway, Hilda Caldwell of Wirtz, Deborah Shorter of Roanoke; number of nieces and nephews; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and good friend, Dawn Greever. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday May 18, 2010, at Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 17, 2010, at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service 665 South Main, Rocky Mount. on May 16, 2010.⁴

Surviving are his wife, Patricia L. Shorter; two daughters, Lori and Heather Shorter; and one step son, Joshua Lujan; all of the home. His parents, Earl Shorter, Roanoke; and Shirley Nichols Shorter, Rocky Mount; one brother, Jimmy Shorter, Staunton; two sisters, Lisa Marie Janney and Lucy Florentine Shorter, both of Rocky Mount; his maternal grandmother, Louella Nichols, Callaway; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
