Two grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren. Three sisters, Lucille Diehr of Manassas, Bernice Wells of Shipman, and Gwen Wood and her husband, Robert, of Charlottesville, Va. He was a Veteran of World War II. He served in Africa and Italy, where he was wounded, and received the Purple Heart. He also received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8446, past Deacon of Mulberry Grove Baptist Church of which he was a dedicated member, and worker. on May 15, 2004.3

Diehr of Front Royal; one sister, Gwen Wood of Charlottesville; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and last but not least, a special great-granddaughter whom Lucille raised; Katrina Duff. A graveside service will be conducted at Stafford Memorial Park in Stafford, Virginia, with the Reverend Sam Kellum officiating. on September 27, 2012.2

     Eunice Virginia Mays Eunice Mays Micklem Griffin, 85, of Buckingham, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born in Nelson County, September 15, 1935, she was a daughter of the late George and Eva Cunningham Mays. In earlier years, Eunice had been employed with Craddock Terry, retiring after 30 years. She was a beloved and faithful member of Bethel Church of the Brethren, and later, attended Mulberry Grove Baptist Church. Eunice possessed a self-less and giving spirit, always willing to lend a hand where needed. She was also a dedicated Christian lady, her love for the Lord first and foremost, only preceding her love for her family. Eunice loved her family dearly and cherished each one of them. She is survived by three children, Pat E. Micklem (Joyce) of Arrington, Glenn E. Micklem (Sandy), and Rhonda M. Simpson (Allen) both of Madison Heights; a step-son, Hastings Griffin of South Boston; grandchildren, Crystal Taylor (Michael) of Arrington, Angie Shupe (Tommy) of Standardsville, Kimberly Clements (Chris), Franklin Patrick Micklem (Erin), Summer Micklem (Tre) and Christian Micklem, all of Madison Heights; step-grandchildren, Bruce Griffin, Tiffany Wilson (Scott), and Brittney Doss; great-grandchildren, Ambyre, Kaylee, Alayna, Colton, Katelyn, Chloe, Easton, and Griffin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Catherine Micklem, and Dorothy Micklem; dear and special friends, Hugh and Brenda Kitchen, and Sallie Crews; special friend and nephew, Charlie Weaver; ex-daughter-in-law, Sandra C. Micklem; special thoughts to Gwen and Bobby Wood; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Willis P.      Robert Ray Wood was buried at Holly Memorial Gardens, Hollymead, Albemarle Co., Virginia.3 He was born on July 21, 1939 at Albemarle Co., Virginia.3,4 He married Gwendolyn Inez "Gwen" Griffin, daughter of Earl Hastings Griffin and Mary Elsie Tyler, on September 26, 1964 at Shipman, Nelson Co., Virginia.1,2,3 Robert Ray Wood died on October 27, 2021 at Virginia at age 82.3 He Robert Ray Wood, July 21, 1939 - October 27, 2021. Robert was born and raised in White Hall, Virginia, later moving to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he raised his family. Robert was born on July 21, 1939, the son of the late Joseph E. and Ollie Hicks Wood. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn Griffin Wood. He is also survived by his daughter, Ginger Leigh Wood Crowley and her husband, Mike Crowley, of Waynesboro, their daughter, Raeann Elizabeth Crowley of Waynesboro, and his brother, Earl Wood of White Hall, Va. Robert attended Meriwether Lewis school for eight years, then went to Albemarle High School, when it opened in the fall of 1953. He attended that school as a sophomore and graduated in 1956. During his senior year, Robert attended school for 1/2 days and worked at State Farm Insurance for 1/2 days. After graduating, he continued working as a full-time employee. Robert had worked for 47 years at State Farm Insurance when he retired in 2003. Robert had a radiant smile and was warmhearted. He made it a point to speak to everyone and thank everyone who was kind to him. Even in the hospital, and on his last days, he thanked everyone and would shake their hand. Robert cherished his family. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughter, going on vacations, visiting family members, getting ice cream and going for drives in the car. When his granddaughter was born, it took his enjoyment of life to the next level. The three of them were the love of his life. Robert shared a very special bond with his son-in-law Mike, from joking with each other and sharing stories to giving him advice. A graveside service will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens on October 30, 2021.3
