Michael loved spending time in the country hills of West Virginia collecting turtles and caring for animals. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Esper Shafer Jr. and John H. Lersch. He is survived by his mother Cheryl Renae Shafer of Pinch; father, John Robert Lersch and step mother LeaAnn of Leon; grandparents, Forrest and Carol Holley of Elkview, Bob and Pat Baker of Leon; brother, Jameson Shafer of Pinch; sisters, Stephanie White of California, and Ashley White of Arizona; uncles, Todd and Ron Shafer both of Elkview; aunts, Sam Hicks and Tina Shafer both of Elkview and Barbara Gold of California. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Tuesday May 4, 2010, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin with Pastor Danny McClung officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 3, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Strickland Family Cemetery, Elkview. The family suggests donations to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association 1248 Greenbrier Street Charleston, WV 25311.1 He was born on August 9, 1983.2 He died on May 1, 2010 at West Virginia at age 26.1,2

She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Clendenin, W.Va. Survivors include sons, Roger Jr. and wife, Glenda, of Bonita Springs, Fla., Ed and wife, Sharon, of Prospect Hill, N.C., and Paul and wife, Tami, of Lexington, N.C; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Donzel, and husband, Roger Sr. Mrs. Williams was a former employee of Kanawha Valley Bank, Charleston, W.Va., before moving to Astor, Fla., in 1972. She and her husband operated the concession and canoe livery at Alexander Springs from 1975 to 1985. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Astor Cemetery, Astor, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. on October 12, 2007.4
