     John Michael Lersch was buried at Strickland Family Cemetery, Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.¹ He John Michael Lersch, 26, of Elkview was set free from the chains that bound him on May 1, 2010. He attended Capitol High School and graduated from Horizon High School in Scottsdale Arizona. He was employed by Clark Filter Systems, Inc. Michael loved spending time in the country hills of West Virginia collecting turtles and caring for animals. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Esper Shafer Jr. and John H. Lersch. He is survived by his mother Cheryl Renae Shafer of Pinch; father, John Robert Lersch and step mother LeaAnn of Leon; grandparents, Forrest and Carol Holley of Elkview, Bob and Pat Baker of Leon; brother, Jameson Shafer of Pinch; sisters, Stephanie White of California, and Ashley White of Arizona; uncles, Todd and Ron Shafer both of Elkview; aunts, Sam Hicks and Tina Shafer both of Elkview and Barbara Gold of California. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Tuesday May 4, 2010, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin with Pastor Danny McClung officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 3, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Strickland Family Cemetery, Elkview. The family suggests donations to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association 1248 Greenbrier Street Charleston, WV 25311.¹ He was born on August 9, 1983.² He died on May 1, 2010 at West Virginia at age 26.^1,2
