Bea is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Smith; daughters, Sharon "Sue" Shinn and husband, Sam, of Elkview, Anita Moles and husband, James, of Elkview; sons, Gary Smith and wife, Debbie, of Coopers Creek, Richard Smith of Elkview; grandchildren, Jennifer Shinn and Sharon Kay Shinn of Elkview, James Sizemore of South Carolina, Stephanie Smith of Princeton, Sarah Bush and husband, Michael, of Hurricane; great-grandchildren, Patrick Shinn of Elkview, Sabrina and Cory Bush of Hurricane, Brooke Sizemore, Jeremy Cook, Shawn Sizemore, all of South Carolina; one great-grandchild due in April 2005; sisters, Shirley Snodgrass of Goldtown, Georgia Wilson of Hurricane, Lea Ann Naylor of Charleston; brother, Holly Elmore of Sutton, Walter Elmore of Elkview. Bea retired from the University of Charleston with 25 years of service and was a former Herbert Hoover High School cook. After retirement, Bea and Raymond enjoyed life to the fullest together, always looking for the estate sales, yard sales and glassware bargains. She always was so proud to show her bargains to all. Bea loved to cook. "If she knew you were coming, she'd have baked a cake or food, but no matter, she'd just fix it and send it to you later. Bea was like that, always giving, loving and was genuine as the proverbial salt of the earth." (Sandy Wells in The Charleston Gazette, Nov. 3, 1997.) Bea was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be sorely missed. The family would like to give a special "thanks" to Hospice and Bea's very special friend, Macel Parker. To all who brought food and cared for Bea during these past few weeks, a very special "thanks." Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Swor and the Rev. Joe Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at the funeral home. Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, is in charge of arrangements. on September 15, 2004.4

The body is at Hess and Harper Mortuary at Clendenin. on March 22, 1955.4
