He attended Crum Chapel, was a U.S. Navy and Army veteran and loved his Kentucky Wildcats. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn Caldwell Simpson; two sons, Rick Simpson and wife Ginger of Ashland and Mark Simpson and wife Leah of Ashland; four grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Manning, Ricky Simpson, Alec Simpson and Aaron Simpson; two great-grandchildren, Jonas Manning and Jossalyn Manning and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Bill Smith and the Rev. Mike Rice.
