He retired from UPS after 30 years, working his way up from a driver to management. After his retirement he spent many years volunteering for Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, Good Works, and the Kennett Library Literacy program. He was happiest when all the family was together. He was very proud of his Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. In addition to spending time with family he enjoyed Woodworking, Jewelry making, creating stain glass pieces and painting with water color. In addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by three children Cathy Heilig(Chris), Dawn Singley(Chip), Carl R. Cochrane Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Vanessa Heilig, Lauren Reber(Matt), Jason Heilig, Dylan Singley, Nikki Singley, Julia Cochrane, Emma Cochrane, Lily Cochrane, Wayne Cochrane, Laura Cochrane, and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Cole had worked at the former Airplane/Marine in Hyde, the former Ames Department Store, Clearfield Hospital, had been a private duty caregiver, and was retired from Grice’s Gun Shop in Clearfield. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ Faith. On February 6, 1950 in Croft, she wed Delvin L. Cole who survives along with 2 daughters Susan A. Carfley Yacabucci and husband Joe and Deborah S. Bunnell and husband Ronald both of Clearfield, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Robert Smeal and wife Ann of Croft, William Smeal and wife Mary and Thomas Smeal and wife Linda both of Clearfield, Donna Bell of LeContes Mills, Mary Graham and Marian Graham and husband Maynard both of Egypt and Shirley Lippert of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Steven A. Carfley, a great granddaughter Paige Carfley and 2 sisters Esther Ireland and Catherine Miller. Davis, former Kanawha County Schools' teacher and counselor, of Charleston, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, in Charleston. She was the daughter of the late William A. Davis Jr. and the late Garnet Macile Davis. She was born in Charleston, was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Morris Harvey College, and had a master's degree in counseling from West Virginia University. She began her career by teaching mathematics at Spring Hill Junior High School, then moved to Dunbar Junior High School as part of a pilot program to begin counseling programs in Kanawha County schools. She also was a counselor at Ben Franklin Career and Technical Education Center. Miss Davis was named in "Who's Who in American Colleges," several other "Who's Who" categories as an educator, was the recipient of the "Anne Maynard Award" in counseling, was named "American School Counselor of the Year for Junior High/Middle Schools," and was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Dunbar Lions Club. She served as an officer in many organizations, such as Phi Delta Kappa, Alpha Delta Kappa, Phi Lambda Tau, Kanawha County School Counseling Association, West Virginia Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, NEA, WVEA, and KCEA. She conducted a retirement workshop for Kanawha County Schools' Employees for many years as the chairman of the Employee Welfare Committee and she served as chairman of legislative committees for many organizations. She was a citizen member of the West Virginia Legislative "Public Education Study Commission" and the West Virginia Legislative "Commission on Juvenile Law." She was appointed by the governor of West Virginia to represent educators at the inauguration of President George Herbert Walker Bush. She was recognized by both the West Virginia Senate and the West Virginia House of Delegates with proclamations for being named "American School Counselor of the Year." She is survived by one sister, Joan Davis Wilkinson of Greenville, S.C; brothers, James A. Davis of Dallas, Texas, Robert L. Davis of Houston, Texas, Thomas E. Davis of Westminster, Colo; three nieces; nine nephews; and 27 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a niece, Debra Lynn Davis. There will be no visitation. Cremation and scattering of ashes will be private. on June 10, 2007.2
