She also served on the board of directors as executive vice president of Sibley Coal and Coke Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Garth Elliott; one son, Thomas Garth Elliott; and one brother. Survivors: sons, William R. "Bill" Elliott of Bluefield and William David Elliott of Bethel, Ohio; sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Knight, Mrs. Richard (Alma S.) Arnt, Mrs. Ruby S. Yockey and Mrs. Charles H. (Dorothy M.) Bailey, all of Norfolk, Va; two grandchildren, Terri Ann Mallott and Michael Elliott, both of Bethel; and four great-grandchildren, Erin McClain, Ryan Mallott, Christian Elliott and Candice Elliott, all of Bethel. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kay Hughes of San Jose, Calif; five grandchildren, Robert Steven Yockey, Daniel Patrick Yockey, Emma Caroline Yockey all of Norfolk, Joseph Abatello of Roanoke, Va. and Michael Abatello of San Jose; as well as several nieces and nephews and very dear friends. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. on July 3, 2003.²
