She was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth until her move to Shawnee Senior Living in October 2011. She attended Bain City Elementary School and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper and telephone operator prior to her marriage and later was the office manager for the Fort Leavenworth Credit Union. She married Edward R McDonald (Mac) on January 24, 1948. They were married for 53 years. They were avid square dancers for many years. Katie also enjoyed bird watching, gardening and reading. She was a member of the Women's Community Y and Friends of the Library in Leavenworth. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Dalby (Garry) Arlington Va; son Michael McDonald (Janice), Shawnee, Kan; brother, John Yates (Connie) Lansing, Kan; and sister, Bette Anderson, Meriden, Kan. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Gregory Dalby, Torrance, Calif. and Kathryn Dalby, Arlington, Va., and three great grandchildren, Melanie, Ashley, and Matthew Dalby, Torrance, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward McDonald and two brothers, James Yates and Theodore Yates. Visitation will be 10:30 to noon on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Davis Furneral Chapel in Leavenworth. Interment will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Women's Community Y, Leavenworth. on June 8, 2013.³

     Theodore J. "Ted" Yates Theodore J. “Ted” Yates, 77, of Topeka, Kan. and formerly of Hot Springs, Ark. and Leavenworth, Kan., died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the Lexington Park Nursing Home, Topeka, after a lengthy illness. He was born March 26, 1934, in Leavenworth, the son of John H. and Martha (Symington) Yates. He is survived by his children, Camille Yates of California and John Drisco of Worth, Ill; a brother, John Yates of Lansing, Kan; two sisters, Kathryn Yates McDonald of Leavenworth and Bette Yates Anderson of Meriden, Kan; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James H. Yates. Ted grew up in Bain City, Kan. and attended grade school there and also Leavenworth High School. Ted was married to Sally Butler in Leavenworth. She is deceased. He married Margaret “Maggie” Crippen in Leavenworth. She is deceased. Ted and Maggie moved to Hot Springs, Ark., where they lived for many years. He married Barbara Davis in Hot Springs and she is also deceased. Ted formerly worked at the Ft. Leavenworth Printing Plant as a cartographer and at the Veterans Administration Center, Leavenworth, where he retired. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, 4701 10th Ave., Leavenworth, KS. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. following the visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles P. Eddins of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Topeka, officiating. Burial beside his wife, Maggie will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.³ He was buried at Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Leavenworth Co., Kansas.^3,5 He married Sue Butler.³ Theodore J.
