He was owner-operator of Overfelt 's Garage for 50 years and a "buddy" to all. A true American Hero, he served seven years, six months & 27 days in the U.S. Navy and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was also a life long member of Gogginsville United Methodist Church and a 30 year Member of Gideons International. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Paul Overfelt, and one sister, Emma Jones. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Goldie Jones Overfelt; daughter, Gaye Clingenpeel-Greene and husband Jerry; son, Jock D. Overfelt and wife Lessa; two grandsons, Joey Overfelt and fiance Tammy Rector, Steven Overfelt; two granddaughters, Ashley and Alisha Overfelt; two great-granddaughters, Kayleigh and Kierra Overfelt; two brothers, Garland Overfelt and wife Lois, Walter Overfelt and wife Mary; two sisters, Frances Keeney and Mary McAden; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Gogginsville United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Brad DeLaney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in his honor to Gogginsville United Methodist Church, 111 Gogginsville Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 915, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gogginsville United Methodist Church.      Robert Donald Jones Our generous, kind, determined, loving, and humorous father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert Donald Jones, age 81 of Rocky Mount (Gogginsville) went to rejoin his wife (Marjorie) and be with our Lord on Monday, May 27, 2019. Bobby was born at his childhood home in Gogginsville on September 24, 1937 to his late parents, Henry and Minnie Dixon Jones. He graduated from Franklin County High School and National Business College before serving four years in the U.S. Navy. He married Marjorie Estelle Williams in 1961 and dedicated his life’s meaning to her and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her death in 2018. He is survived by their children, Robin Washburn (Brent), Steve Jones, Joey Jones (Amanda) and Rodney Jones (Cheri); his brothers, Melvin (Spike) Jones and Johnny Jones; sisters, Goldie Overfelt and Mable Flora, and Elva Mann, Deceased; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bobby had an impact on all who met him with his kindness, gentleness, and humorous nature. He will be missed by many in the Franklin County Community. He was a GOOD Man! Funeral services will be conducted from Gogginsville United Methodist Church, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 with the Rev. Katherine Budzik officiating.      Marjorie Estelle Williams Our kind, faithful, giving, patient, faithful and loving mother, grandmother and wife, Marjorie Williams Jones, age 79 of Rocky Mount went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was born on June 17, 1938 in Penhook, Virginia a daughter of the late Buster and Omar Williams. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby, Pete, Jerry and Norman Williams. She married Bobby Jones on February 18, 1961, celebrating 57 years of marriage this past February. She is also survived by her children that she loved dearly, Robin Washburn (Brent), Steve Jones, Joey Jones (Amanda) and Rodney Jones (Cheri). She was beloved by her eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Shelby Adkins and Hattie Ashby. A very special thanks to Lisa Ferguson for her dedication and love towards our mother.
