Survived by her sister, Mary Gladys Brown Pieper; sister- in-law, Mary Emma Allen Brown; son, Edwin J. Best, Jr; daughter-in-law, Caroline Best; and three grandchildren, Sarah Best Campbell, Katherine Best, and John Best. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002 at New Providence Presbyterian Church. Pastors officiating include Emily J. Anderson. Her ashes will be placed in the New Providence Cemetery by the family prior to the service. on May 31, 2002.5

While teaching Sociology at Maryville College from 1946 to 1955, she received the M.A. degree in Sociology from University of Tennessee. In 1955, Archie accepted a position with the Presbyterian church in New York City where Mary Gladys received the M.L.S. from Columbia University. From 1956 until her retirement in 1980, she held positions of increasing responsibility with the New York Public Library. Mary Gladys and Archie retired to Maryville where she was active with the American Association of University Women, Maryville College Library Archives, Third Friday Book Club, and Presbyterian Women at New Providence Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by: parents, husband, sister Lynn Ann Best and brother George S. Brown. Survived by: nephews, Edwin J. Best, Jr. (Caroline), Maryville, TN; Lynn W. Brown (Joellen), Elizabethton, TN; Sutton Brown (Beverly), Hampton, TN. J. Finnefrock, well-known resident of Kane for almost 40 years, succumbed to an illness of complications at the Community hospital at 12:32 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Finnefrock had been in ill health for the past two months and was stricken seriously ill last Thursday when she was taken to the hospital. Despite her illness, she had been able to be about, visiting relatives in Warren over Christmas. Her death came as a shock to her many friends who were unaware of the critical nature of her last illness. Mrs. Finnefrock was born Harriet Julia Cook at Cooksburg, April 2, 1885. She resided at that place until her marriage to E. J. Finnefrock, June 15, 1904, at Brookville. The couple came here in November of that year, opening a grocery store which remains in business at the same location on Maple street. Until recently she was active in numerous women's organizations of the First Methodist church and a member of the Women's Benefit association. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following sons and daughters: Larue, of Kane; Mrs. Lucile Strubel and Mrs. Gladys McElwain, of Warren; a nephew residing at home, Gale Cook and one grandchild, Lola Jayne Struble of Warren. Also surviving are four brothers, Robert and E. B. Cook of Cooksburg; W. H. Cook, Youngstown, O., and Jess Cook of Chicora. A prayer service will be held from her late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock followed by funeral rites from the First Methodist church. Interment will be in McKean County Memorial park. on December 30, 1940.3

Mr. Cook was born April 9, 1888, in Cooksburg, Pa., a son of Emanuel and Louise Huelings Cook. He lived here 50 years before moving to Kane three years ago. He was retired self-employed salesman. His wife, the former Lydia Measmer, died in 1973. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Barney of Warren, Pa; two sons, Neil of Kane and the Rev. Gail W. of North East, Pa; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery Chapel. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Davis-Velker Funeral Home. on October 30, 1979.4

Cook, 75, of R.D. 1, Inverness, Fla., retired Prudential Insurance Co. and United Natural Gas Co. employe and former Kane resident, died unexpectedly Friday evening at 9:15 o'clock at the Inverness Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Cook, son of the late Emanuel and Louise Huling Cook, was born at Cooksburg, Forest County, July 12, 1892. He resided here for many years before moving to Chicora and Brookville and later to Inverness. During his residence here, he was employed as a salesman for the Prudential Insurance Co. He was later employed by the United Natural Gas Co. for several years before his retirement. During World War I he served with Co. E. of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He attended Tabor Lutheran Church here. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Anderson Cook; and by one brother, Winfield Cook of Youngstown, O. Friends will be received at the Hill-Kelly Funeral Home here at the usual calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 o'clock, Wednesday Funeral services will be held at Hill-Kelly's Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Mallard L. Nelson of Tabor Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery. on January 2, 1968.1
