(Connie) LaVallee of Lebanon; two daughters, Jane Ann (Wynn) Reese of Harrod and Anita (Jonathon) Hughes of Dickinson, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Paul LaVallee. She loved visiting with friends and family and especially adored her grand & great-grandchildren. Always thinking of others, she never forgot a birthday and enjoyed sending greeting cards for every occasion. She had wit, charm, and a cleaver sense of humor and will be sadly missed. Left to honor her memory are her son, Ronald Roberts of Anderson; two daughters, Stephanie Watters (husband-Rapid) of Muncie and Teri Wheeler (husband-Steve) of Miramar, Florida; five grandchildren, Abigail Marshall (husband-David) of Anderson; Timothy Wheeler, who is proudly serving in Iraq (wife-Rachel) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Gregory Wheeler of Miramar, Florida; Anthony Wheeler (wife-Cristina) of Pembroke Pines, Florida; Brian Watters (fiancé-Chelsea Banks) of St. Louis, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Chase Wheeler; Acacia Wheeler; Gabriella E.D. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sophia Mae (Davisson) Gourley, whom he married Aug. 1, 1947, in Shirley, at the home of the bride’s parents; a daughter, Rebecca Jo “Becky” (husband, David) Helvey of Anderson; two granddaughters, Tandi Jo Shipley of Anderson and Donna (husband, Kevin) Hampton of Midlothian, Texas; four grandsons, Corey Donald Shipley of Anderson, Beau Tyler (fiancee, Rheannon) Shipley of Newport Beach. Calif., Stephen Shayne Shipley of Anaheim, Calif., and Brian (wife, Amy) Gourley of Arlington, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Hampton of Midlothian, Texas, and Natylie and Nathan Gourley, both of Arlington, Texas; sisters, Odetta Davis of Brooksville, Fla., Mae Hiday of Riverside, Calif., and Rose Yeagley, Ruth Coe and Elma Tucker, all of Anderson; brother-in-law, James Borders of Anderson; two cousins, Marie Files of Anderson and Freda Fortine of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. Parks Jr. USA (Ret.), 97, passed away peacefully at Elmcroft Senior Living on Thursday, March 12, 2015. He was born March 3, 1918 in Remington, IN the son of Marion W. Parks Sr. and Garnett (McNary) Parks. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in June 1935. Junior, as his friends and family affectionately called him, enjoyed golfing and fishing in Canada with his Wilco family. He spent his winters in Tucson, AZ and loved nothing more than when his family came to visit. Junior served in World War II, the Korean War and at the Pentagon. During World War II, he flew military reconnaissance missions and was later proficient at flying Chinook helicopters. At the end of World War II, he had the opportunity to fly over the USS Missouri while the Japanese surrendered to the United States, an experience he was proud of for the rest of his life. While serving in the army, he was promoted to the rank of colonel in June 1966. He retired from the army in June of 1972 after thirty one years, two months, ten days. He received numerous awards and United States Service medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star Medal. After his retirement from the U.S. Army, he worked at Century 21 Realty and All American Homes. He was a long time member of Avondale United Methodist Church. Survivors include his special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Williams of Muncie; one brother, Eugene (Sharon) Parks of Illinois; many nieces and nephews, including Karen (Kevin) Persinger, Rick (Sheri) Williams, Renee (Kevin) O’Brien, Diane Reed and Dirk (Lisa) Studebaker; several stepsons, stepdaughters and their children. He is preceded in death by his first wife of forty-five years, Edellyn (Williams) Parks; daughters, Polly, Patsy and Peggy; wife, Garnet (Selvidge) Parks, wife, Helen (Hook) Parks; sister-in-law, Delphine (Williams) Studebaker Stewart and one brother, Marvin Parks. Cremation will take place and burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery at a later date. on March 16, 2015.4

He was born in Sparta, Tennessee, the son of William S. and Mary A. (McCormick) Roberts, moved to Anderson as a child, and graduated from Anderson High School in 1937. After attending Ball State Teacher's College, now Ball State University in the early 1940's, he worked briefly for General Motor's in Anderson before enlisting with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a sergeant with the 320th Bombardment Group where he flew several missions in Europe. After the war, he returned to Anderson where he worked for General Motor's as an engineering draftsmen for several years, and then worked as a engineering consultant for various tool & die engineering companies over the United States until retiring in the late 1970's. He later moved to Tennessee, where he wrote a weekly article for the Sparta, Tennessee newspaper before returning to the Muncie and Anderson area. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Anderson and enjoyed fishing, hunting, writing poems, writing songs and playing the guitar, and collecting stamps. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen (Davisson) Roberts; a son, Ronald Stephen Roberts, Anderson; two daughters, Stephanie Watters (husband-Rapid), Muncie, Terisa Wheeler (husband-Steve), Miramar, Florida; five grandchildren, Abigail Campbell (fiance'-David Marshall), Anderson, Timothy Wheeler (wife-Melissa), both stationed with the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, Gregory Wheeler and Anthony Wheeler, both of Miramar, Florida, and Brian Watters, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen; granddaughter, Beth Ann Watters, his parents, two brothers, Elwood Roberts and James Roberts, four sisters, Mamie Denman, Charlene Palfy, Jean Thornburg, and Anna Lee Gillentine. Burial will follow in Memorial Park in Anderson with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. on August 24, 2004.5

She had also attended the Apex School of Cosmetology in Anderson, IN. She was a neat and tidy homemaker who made home a wonderful place to be, especially during Christmas. Ruth was believed to be loved by all even though she had an ornery sense of humor and always knew exactly what she wanted. Ruth did like to make people smile and lived a good full life all while being a hard worker. She loved to travel with her husband, Donald, whom she married in February 17, 1951. They traveled both internationally and domestically, learning much along the way. Ruth's claim to fame, her pies; she was famous for her ability to make pies and loved doing so. She also enjoyed sweet corn and tomatoes from her garden. Ruth is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Becky) Casey of Mesa, AZ, Ginger Casey Jones of Dunreith, Ben Casey of Shirley; grandchildren, Matthew (Kristin) Hardgrove of Denver, Megan Terry Casey of Saugerties, NY, Katherine Grace (Anthony) Nelson of Fort Wainwright, AK, Kailey (Donovan) Lucero of Denver, Emily Rector of Daleville; great grandchildren, Starling Adams, Alex Bailey, Audri Casey, Nora Nelson, Isaiah Nelson, Selena Valenzuela, Jaxon Lucero, Memphis and Raleigh Rector; brother, John Wesley (Loretta) Davisson of Liberty, IN; several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Casey; granddaughter, Whitney Jones and eight siblings. Burial will take place at Harlan Cemetery at the convenience of the family. on December 1, 2021.4
