She was born October 30, 1929, in Ash Grove, MO, to Orville E. Caton and Glen (Hood) Caton. She was married to Loran Lyon and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1991. Juanita had lived with her youngest daughter, Julie and loving son-in-law, Terry, in Lee?s Summit, MO, for 22 years. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Boone and her husband Terry, Independence, MO, and Joye Fitzgerald and her husband Art, Holden, MO; two sons, Jackie Kiger and his wife Tammy, Trenton, MO, and Glen Kiger, Lee?s Summit, MO, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Loran, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sonny Caton, and two sisters, Alberta Caton and Norma Black. Rea lived a life of integrity, honesty and true compassion for others. His greatest joy in life was his love for his Lord, family and friends. Rea was the son of George and Ethel Black who preceded him in death as well as eight brothers and sisters. Affectionately known by his loved ones as PaPaw and Pops, Rea is survived by his wife, Norma and two daughters, Joni Clouse and Jean Lilly of Independence, MO. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and two very special sons-in- law, George Lilly and Greg Clouse. Hope Cemetery in Baker City. Mrs. Van Newkirk was born on June 13, 1938, in Baker City to Ronald and Dorothy (Bone) Ferney. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1956. She married Lester Watterson on June 13, 1956, in Huntington. While they lived near Huntington, one son, Jim, was born. They moved to Bates in 1957. While there, their daughter, Shawna, and son, Calvan, were born. After the mill closed in Bates, the family moved to Prairie City. Mr. Watterson died in 1982. She married Charles Clark in John Day on Dec. 18, 1986. He died June 18, 1992. Mrs. Van Newkirk married Gene Van Newkirk on March 31, 1999 in Pendleton. She loved spending time with family, especially her kids and grandkids. She also loved to go to the Oregon Coast. She is survived by her husband, Gene, of Prairie City; son, James Watterson, of Riverton, Wyo; daughter, Shawna Smith, of Seymore, Mo; son, Calvan Watterson, of Carlin, Nev; stepchildren, Maria Van Newkirk, of Olympia, Wash; Charles Van Newkirk of Portland; and Noel Van Newkirk of Vancouver, Wash; and several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. on October 23, 2007.¹

     Minnie J. Cole was buried at Riverside Cemetery, 27th Street and 5th Avenue, Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois.^4,2 She was born on December 1, 1871 at Illinois.^3,4 She died on August 27, 1905 at Seward, Seward Co., Nebraska, at age 33.^4,2 She The remains of Miss Minnie Cole, formerly of this city, were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery (Moline, Ill.) Thursday after services at the residence of her uncle Charles Grant at Eighth Street and Twelfth Avenue and at the grave. The Rev. Paul Brown officiated at the residence and the members of the Myrtle Lodge of Rebekahs at the grave. Miss Cole had been a member of the ladies' lodge during her residence here and had maintained her connection with it through all the years she had spent in Nebraska. She had been teaching in Nebraska for the last fifteen years, and she had been looking forward with happy anticipation to her wedding day, which was to have been sometime in January of next year. Instead death has intervened, and on the one who has been about to claim her hand has been imposed the sad duty of accompanying all that was mortal of her whom he loved to its resting place. As escort to the remains came Mrs. Lizzie Cole, the lady's mother, her brother, and her fiance, Joseph Brown, all of Seward. on September 7, 1905.²
