He was the son of Alma L. King of Roanoke, and the late Frank E. King. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa Dawn King. Michael was a devoted husband for 43 years to his wife, Joyce Lynn King; devoted father to Richard K. King and his wife, Lisa, and Michael W. King and fiancée, Whitney; devoted grandfather to Ashley N. Spencer, Shianne M. King, Ashley E. King, Michael C. King, Aurora King, and Trace A. King; and great-grandfather to Lukas T. Spries, Raelynn M. Overstreet, Delilah R. Garcia, and Carolina F. Ferguson. Michael was a devoted family man who put his wife, children, grandchildren, and new great-grandson, before himself. He worked for Kessler Refrigeration for 30 years and when Kessler closed, Michael went to work for Richmond Plumbing. Over the years Michael worked more than 40 years as a pipe fitter with jobs at Food Lion, Walmart, Kroger and other stores installing pipes for cooling systems. "My Lord was my Shepherd and Guide and also my guardian angel giving me protection as I traveled up and down the highways to work. Love to my beautiful and wonderful wife and to my beautiful children and grandchildren. You all were my life and the most important thing to me. Take care and do the right things in life." The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for Michael E. King during his illness. A Celebration of his Life will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Cameron Dunlop officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. on April 18, 2021.3

She had been ill for two years. Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of James and Amanda Hemphill. She was married to Eather Mitchell, May 16, 1929. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church, the Ladies Aid society, the Missionary society of the church and of the War Mothers. Survivors include the husband; two sons, Fred of Elwood and Forrest of the U.S. Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Bradley of Elwood and Mrs. Leona Barrow of Hayward, Calif; two brothers, Leonard Hemphill, Lincolnville, and Daniel Hemphill of Union, Maine; a sister, Mrs. Golda Parks of Morgantown, Ky; a stepfather, Ollie Kleyla of Elwood; and nine grandchildren. The body is at the Jackley funeral home where friends may call any time. Funeral rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev. Joseph Rousch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Sunset Memorial park cemetery. on December 14, 1964.2

Survivors include: her husband, a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Harry) Turner of LaFountaine; two grandchildren; a number of nephews and nieces including Donald J. Buckles and Karen Ann Buckles of Anderson; three brothers, Donald Buckles of Anderson, Robert Carl Buckles of Kennewick, Wash., and Vern Ralph Buckles of Fresno, Calif; three sisters, Vivian (Mrs. Basil) Streets of Orestes, Mrs. Bessie Henley of Vincennes and Mrs. May McAuley of Spokane, Wash. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today in the Brenneman and Hunter Funeral Home, LaFontaine. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Paul Mitchell of the LaFontaine Methodist Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, LaFontaine. on June 20, 1961.3
