Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Brice Crook; two sons, Douglas John Crook and wife Melissa of Jumping Branch and Gregory Scott Crook of Jumping Branch; one daughter, Robin Browning and husband Greg of Shady Spring; one brother, John F. "Rick" Clark and wife Geneva of Ghent; and two grandchildren, Shaun and Justin Crook. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Open Door Church at Shady Spring with Pastor George Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. on June 4, 2001.5

She was a member of Morris Memorial United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Hazel Hammonds; brother, Carl Kenneth Hammonds Jr; and a sister, Mary Johnson. Surviving are her nieces, Kathy (Larry) White and Kim (Dewey) Taylor; nephew, Jarrel (Tammy) Johnson II; three great nieces; three great nephews; seven great-great-nieces; and eleven great-great-nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Montgomery General Extended Care for their compassion and dedication to Betty during her stay there. As per her request, she will be cremated and there will be no services. on November 29, 2018.3
