Mrs. Conner was a homemaker, and a member of the former Cool Ridge Missionary Baptist Church on Blue Jay Six Road. She enjoyed sewing and cooking in her spare time. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harland Conner and by a brother, William Backus. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children: Robin Evans and husband Bill Benemann, and Joe Ball, all of Cool Ridge. Four step children: Shirley Carr and husband Sterling of Cool Ridge, Terry Huffman and husband Red of North Carolina, Jerry Conner of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and Timmy Conner and wife Hannah of Oklahoma. Uthalee, affectionately known as “Sissy”, was born in Princewick, West Virginia on April 20, 1935 and was the daughter of Donzie Clay and Beulah Meadows Conner. Sissy attended Shady Springs School in West Virginia with her 10 siblings. Prior to retirement she was a hairdresser. She was a member of the Lake Milton Baptist Temple. Sissy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She also enjoyed water skiing, camping, gardening, playing cards, baking and cooking. If she knew you were coming to visit you’d find your “favourite”, made fresh & waiting to send home with you. Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Orlie Kenneth Hicks and her siblings, Harlan Conner, Csea Conner, Marie Marshall and Nadine Costa and an infant sister. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Venita Collins (Roger) of Lake Milton, and Katrena Hicks of Austintown. He served as a Staff Sergeant in World War II and came to Lake Milton in 1950. He was employed at General Motors and retired in 1990. Orlie attended Cleveland University on the G.I. Bill and received a degree in Agriculture and Conservation. He also received a degree in television and radio repair and was a licensed Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer. He was a Charter member of the American Legion Lake Milton Post 737, where he served as an honor guard. He also was a 32nd degree Mason in the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge for 40 years. Orlie was an advocate of wildlife and conservation and an enthusiastic member of the Mahoning County Coon Hunters Protective Association since 1966. He was a longtime member of the Lake Milton Baptist Temple, and loved hunting, fishing, camping, and tending his orchard and gardening. Orlie leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Uthalee Conner, whom he married September 20, 1952; two daughters: Katrena L. Hicks and Venita (Roger) Collins, both of Lake Milton; two sisters: Bonnie J. Sutton of Waynesville, NC and Devota S. Shumate of Madison, IN; five grandchildren: Kristie Lee (Charles) Pittle of El Paso, TX, Courtney Lee (Brian) Yost of Jersey City, NJ, and Desiree Lee Collins, Robert Lee Collins, and Damien Lee Collins all of Lake Milton; one great grandson: Jackson Lee Pittle of El Paso, TX; his sister-in-law: Nellie Hicks of Diamond; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Orlie was preceded in death by six sisters: Martha Hicks, Alice Fox, Violet Miller, Grace Holland, Ova France and Joy Foster and seven brothers: Boone, John L., Byron, Joseph, Clatys, Virgil and Clyde G. Hicks. She was married to Joseph Costa in 1964. Nadine had been an insurance underwriter until her retirement. Nadine will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Costa and their two sons: Anthony M. (husband of Megan) Costa of Greencastle and Christopher J. (husband of Andi) Costa of Chambersburg. Nadine has five grandchildren: Ryan, Cody, Emily, Joe and Macey. She was a former member of the Cool Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Marshall enjoyed singing in church, baking, and making holiday specials for her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Marshall, by two brothers Harlan Conner and C.E. Conner, by a sister, Nadine Costa, and also by an infant sister. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children: Gary Marshall and his wife Rose of Cool Ridge, and Alan Marshall of Cool Ridge.
