Burial will be in the Cole Family Cemetery at Coal City. Mr. Cole died in a local hospital at 11:25 p.m. Saturday after a long illness. Born March 3, 1896 at Winding Gulf, he was the son of the late George Lee and Linnie Tolley Cole. He was a retired electrician and blacksmith, last working for the Left Fork Fuel Co. He was a lifelong resident of Coal City and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. His wife, Alice Mae Canaday Cole, died August 20, 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jaris (Dorothy) Tankersley of Coal City and Mrs. William (Ruth) Maloney of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Lacy, George and Ira, all of Coal City; one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Hatcher of Coal City; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Friends may call at Melton Mortuary from 6 to 9 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Canaday Richardson; five sons, Donald, of Salem, N.J., James, of the U.S. Army, Marvin, of Denver, Col., Raymond, and Bobby; both of Lester; two daughters, Mrs. Clayton Mills of Sophia and Mrs. Dorothy Gray of Lockwood; a brother, Lawton Richard, son of Lester; a sister, Mrs. Maude Hedrick of Wickham; and 11 grandchildren. on September 18, 1952.5
