She was born December 7, 1918 in McDowell County, WV to the late William Auburn Childress and Blanche Ring Childress. Ms. Poff was a member of Christ Temple Church in Winston-Salem and the last surviving sibling of her family. In addition to her parents, Ms. Poff was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edward Poff; one daughter, Rita Gay Dooley; two sisters; and two brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Shirley (Julian) Dunford; one son, Mark (Lynette) Poff; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. this evening, Saturday, February 28, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Bob Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, in Bluewell, WV. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oak Forest for the loving care given to Ms. Poff during her stay. on February 28, 2009.1

Bluefield, died in the Glenwood Park Methodist Home Tuesday after a long illness. Born in Coopers, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Harmon Tabor. She had been a resident of the Bluewell most of her life. She was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S and the Laries' Ernest Worker's Bible Class of the church. Surviving are her husband, H. B. Poff; one daughter, Mrs. James (Betty) Bailey of Princeton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Clarence Williams of Rt. 4, Bluefield, one step-son, Harless Poff of Rt. 5, Bluefield; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Jones of Princeton and Mrs. Zola Gullion of Portsmouth, Ohio and one brother, Lester Tabor of Coopers. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Bluewell United Methodist Church with Rev. D. Homer Stewart and Rev. Eldridge Liddle officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Cemtery at Bluewell. Pallbearers will be Ruck Hale, Joe Scott, Sonny Mabe, Jess Saunders, Garvis Walker, Louis Vasvary, Odell Bennett, Vester Johnson, and Stuart Jones. Ladies of the church will carry flowers. on January 13, 1971.2
