Born January 1, 1929, at Saulsville, in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late William "Wid" Dixon and Della A. Tilley Dixon. He was a member of the New Zion Church of Old Regular Baptists, where he served as a deacon. He was an U.S. Army veteran and in 1982 retired from Cabot Corporation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Dixon and wife, Beulah, and infant brother Elvie; sisters, Sylvia Green and husband, Willie, Hazel Blankenship, and husband, Hiley, and Edna Green and husband, Andy; brother-in-law, Arnold Green; and father and mother-in-law, Lacy and Susie Tolliver Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geneva Phillips Dixon; three sons, Michael Sidney Dixon and wife, Deborah, of Bluefield, Va., Richard John Dixon and wife, Loukia, of Huntington, and Kevin Dean Dixon and wife, Claudene, of Winston-Salem, N.C; eight grandchildren, Christopher Dixon and wife, Lori, of Vinton, Va., Matthew Dixon and fiancée Melissa Dumas of Charlotte, N.C., Jessica Dixon and fiancé Shane Harris of Bluefield, Va., Basil, John and Christianna Dixon, all of Huntington, and Philip and Stephen Idol, both of Winston-Salem, N.C; three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Heidi and Brooklyn; two sisters, Pauline Phillips and husband, Bryce, of Saulsville and Mae Green of Welch-Pineville Road; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Calfee Funeral and Cremation Service of Pineville. A celebration of Sidney's life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Elders Lonnie Mullins, Gene Green, Vern Blankenship and Deacon John Green officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. on November 5, 2010.3

Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Thomas Glen Phillips; son, David Phillips of Buckhannon; daughters, Debbie (Doug) Grubb of Cardington, Ohio, Joan (Bill) Duffey of Millwood and Pam (Brian) Healy of Charleston; sisters, Rose Riffe of Ashboro, North Carolina, and Carol Blankenship of Hanover; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, 4203 Salines Drive, Malden, with the Rev. Bryce Phillips officiating. The burial will follow the service in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Audrey's memory to the American Cancer Society, 301 RHL Blvd., South Charleston, WV 25309, or Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311. As a child, he loved all sports, especially baseball, basketball and boxing, and he later went on to be a professional boxer in the middleweight division. His favorite hobby was woodworking. He was self-employed in the home window construction business. He was a former general manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Tampa and former vice president of a subsidiary of Aluminum Industries in Jacksonville, Fla. Most of all he was known to his family as the family prankster who loved to joke around and cut up with his family whom he loved so dearly. He was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Mullens. Besides his dear wife, Darla, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Alan Pauley of Fort Wright, Ky., and Robert B. Pauley III of Florida; a brother, M.E. "Mike" Pauley and wife, Loretta, of Land O'Lakes, Fla; mother-in-law, Ruth Armstrong of Crab Orchard, Ky; and father-in-law, Eugene McKenzie Jr. of Springboro, Ohio. Service will be 3 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel, 229 Main St., Crab Orchard, Ky., with the Rev. Jan McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 2 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.
