She was born September 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Buford and Nelthia Jones Hill. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Casey Jones; three daughters, Janet Jones, Diane Brubaker and Sandra LaPrade; four brothers. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Henry and Sarah Jones, David Jones, Rocky Mount; daughter and sons-in-law, Brenda and Eldon Bowman, Hardy, Lewis Brubaker, Doug and Judy LaPrade, Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three special children; sisters, Vielda Jones, Roanoke, JoAnna and Harry Austin, Floyd; brother, Clarence (Buddy) Hill, Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hill, Roanoke and Evelyn Yancy, N.C; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted from Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Byron Snapp officiating. on March 14, 2007.²

Surviving are her husband, Harold D. ("Doug") LaPrade of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita Sue and Allen Watson, Blacksburg, Belinda Gail and Ray McGhee, Rocky Mount; her parents, Casey O. and Nadine H. Jones, Rocky Mount; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Henry and Sarah W. Jones, Rocky Mount, David Jones, Rocky Mount; one sister and three brothers-in-law, Brenda and Eldon Bowman, Hardy, Lewis Brubaker, Rocky Mount, James E. LaPrade, Rocky Mount; her mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Polly and Lloyd Flora, Rocky Mount, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. on April 17, 1994.⁶

     Harold Douglas "Doug" LaPrade was buried at Franklin Memorial Park, Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.^4,6 He was born on January 30, 1946 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^3,4,7,8 He married Sandra Gail Jones, daughter of Casey Obery Jones and Virginia Nadine Hill, on May 1, 1970 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4,5,6 Harold Douglas "Doug" LaPrade died on March 2, 2014 at Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 68.^4,6,9,8 He Having faith in the promises of Almighty God, Doug (Gabby) stepped into the Heavenly Kingdom March 2, 2014. The Lord Jesus and angels are rejoicing at his arrival home. Doug is also being greeted by his wife of 24 years, Sandra Jones LaPrade; father, Edgar LaPrade; in-laws, Casey and Nadine Jones and Johnola Roe; brother, William (Pluck) LaPrade; sisters-in-law, Bea LaPrade, Sarah Jones, and Diane Brubaker; as well as many saints who have made their arrival to the City of God. Doug leaves this side of eternity his wife, Judy Roe LaPrade; mother, Mildred LaPrade Flora and Lloyd; brother, James LaPrade; daughters, Bonita LaPrade and Allen Watson, Belinda LaPrade and Kameron Kitts; stepsons, Jim and Brandon Holtz; six grandchildren, Abigail Nelson, Jakob Watson, Ryleigh Watson, Taylor Kitts, Alaina Pendry, and Bryce Holtz. Doug has been honored to have his loving extended family, sister-in-law, Brenda Jones and Eldon Bowman; brothers-in-law, Henry and David Jones, and Lewis Brubaker; who have always been such blessings in his life. When Doug and Judy married, their family grew and Doug welcomed in new members of his family, Dave and Pat Roe; sisters-in-law, Linda Roe and James McCoy, Susan Roe and DeWayne Steele, Jessica Roe and Mark Calighan, and Melissa Fraley; brothers- in-law, Charles Roe, Danny Roe, and Jim and Kelly Roe. Also, so many nieces and nephews love him dearly. The Lord has blessed Doug and Judy with a wonderful church family who has been the hands and feet of Christ as they have worshipped together at Franklin Heights Baptist Church and Sunday school class of Curtis and Donna Adams. He also leaves this side of eternity so many people who have come to know and love his genuine heart and his wonderful sense of humor. His words of wisdom, his Sunday school and Bible study friends lovingly teased him, comes from the book of Deuteronomy. Doug has also kept a close relationship with a dear Coast Guard friend, Roy Brown and his wife, Sharla, who live in Illinois. Doug proudly served our great nation in the United States Coast Guard from 1965 to 1969. He lived his life believing in God, family, and country. He worked at GE and several other jobs before opening his small engine repair business with his wife, Sandra, in 1979. They both also drove school buses for the Franklin County School System. Doug loved to ride his motorcycle and with Sandra and they traveled to many states as members of the Gold Wing Club. Later he would ride with his family and friends whenever the weather and time permitted. Doug and Judy also enjoyed riding the four-wheeler and playing with the grandkids in the back yard. For Doug there was no better time than sitting around enjoying sweet memories or making new ones with his family. He served the Lord faithfully at Franklin Heights Baptist Church as an Usher, Greeter, Children's Church teacher, in the AWANA's, and he was dedicated to their Sunday school class with his wife, Judy. Doug was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. If you have had the opportunity to know Doug (Gabby), then you were blessed indeed. A casual celebration of Doug's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Griffith and Mr. Curtis Adams officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Franklin Memorial Park. on March 3, 2014.⁶

     Alberta Ferguson was buried at Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Swenfield Road, Franklin Co., Virginia.^4,3 She was born on September 8, 1921 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,4 As of June 17, 1959,her married name was Jones.¹ She married James Bernard "Buster" Jones, son of Henry Hairston Jones and Martha Ellen Addie Martin, on June 17, 1959 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,3 Alberta Ferguson died on January 7, 2006 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 84.^4,3,5 She Alberta Ferguson (Bert) Jones, 85, of Roanoke, formerly of Ferrum, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2006. Mrs. Jones was a former resident of Ferrum but due to her illness, she has spent the past year with her nephew in Roanoke. Her husband, James B. Jones, preceded her in death. Mrs. Jones is survived by a number of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, including one great-nephew. Graveside services will be conducted from Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. on January 9, 2006.³
