     Peter Elmore was born circa 1627 at England.1 He married Jane Unknown circa 1639.1 Peter Elmore Peter Elmore of Rappahannock County, Planter, to Charles Dodson of Rappahannock County, Planter... let to farm as much plantable land as three tithables can tend in Corn and tobacco with privilege of leaving out for pasturage and privilege of coopers and carpenters timber for the use of ye plantation for term of nineteen years from this date, and Elmore to furnish Dodson with Apple trees and Peach trees sufficient to make an Orchard both of apples and peaches, and at expiration of term, the said Dodson to leave a thirty foot dwelling house and a fifty foot Tobacco house... and if Dodson should leave before that time, Elmore to have right of first refusal.

Signed by Peter Elmor, and witnessed by William Smoote and Charles Wilson; entered on July 10th, 1679, and recognized on July 7th, 1680 on July 10, 1679.2 He died in 1681 at Virginia.1

He was captured at Fisher's Hill September 22, 1864, exchanged January 17, 1865 and was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond VA and deserted two days later.3 He was born in 1817 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.2,3 He married Hester Elmore, daughter of James Elmore and Camilla "Milley" "Milla" Gant, on September 26, 1839 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.1,6 Abner Jehu Paxton died in 1898 at Clay Co., West Virginia.4

Mrs. Procious is survived by two sons and nine daughters (some of there are step-children), Mrs. A. H. Goad, Mrs. Annis Summers, Mrs. Dailia Thomas, Mrs. Joe Lucas, Mrs. J. F. Elmore, Mrs. M. D. Samples, Mrs. George Paxton, all of Charleston; Mrs. Sam Arthur, of Ohio; Mrs. Ollie Chapman, of Gassaway, and Howard Samples and Will Proclous, of Paxton. One sister, Mrs. Hallie Ashley, of Charleston, one brother, Worthy Paxton, of Widen, 45 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Procious Tuesday. on March 18, 1929.4

Samuel Brown Paxton1

     Samuel Brown Paxton Enlisted in Co. B, 28th VA Infantry, CSA on May 18, 1861 and served until Dec 25, 1864. He was wounded at the first battle of Manassas on Apr 30, 1863, recovered and was wounded at Gettysburg Jul 3, 1863. He recovered and fought in the second Battle of Manassas and at Lookout Mountain.2 He was buried at Samuel Paxton Cemetery, Roane Co., West Virginia.3 He was born on April 1, 1839 at Botetourt Co. (now Craig Co.), Virginia.3 He married Elizabeth A. Paxton, daughter of Abner Jehu Paxton and Hester Elmore, circa 1861.1,4 Samuel Brown Paxton died in 1916 at Roane Co., West Virginia.2,3

     Charles L. "Charlie" Paxton was buried at Lyle Paxton Cemetery, Kettle, Roane Co., West Virginia.3,7 He was born on November 20, 1861 at Craig Co., Virginia.3 He married Sarah Frances Shaver on February 19, 1885 at Roane Co., West Virginia.4 Charles L. "Charlie" Paxton married Margaret Carpenter on April 16, 1905 at Roane Co., West Virginia.8,9 Charles L. "Charlie" Paxton died on September 22, 1939 at Frame, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 77.3,7 He Charles L. Paxton - Mr. Paxton, 77-year-old farmer of Frame, died Friday night at the home of a son, G. H. Paxton of Buffalo Lick near Clendenin, after a long Illness. The body was removed to the Albert Myers and Son's mortuary at Elkview. Born in Craig county, Va., Mr. Paxton came to West Virginia as a child with his parents during the Civil war days. Funeral and burial rites will be conducted at Paxton cemetery near the Sandy Knob church in Roane county, with Rev. S. E. Lundy officiating. Also surviving Mr. Paxton are his widow, Margaret Paxton; one daughter, Miss Virgie Paxton; six other sons, I. W. and V. L. Paxton of Frame, M. W. Paxton of Walton, E. S. Paxton of Cuyhoga Falls, O., A. E. Paxton of Chelyan and H. R. Paxton of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lucas of Island Branch and Mrs. Mollie White of Procious; two brothers, W. S. Paxton of Walton and E. D. Paxton of Frame, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. on September 23, 1939.7
